Hi Wyn and Ice, Thank you for asking.
At the risk of boring the others, she's no better. It's a strange thing called FND / Functional Neurological Disorder. She started with simple tingling in her legs before Easter, literally one Saturday morning in March. By following Friday she'd been in A&E 3 times as she could no longer feel her legs though at that time she was still walking. Then it spread to her hands, then her hands stopped working. Then she could no longer walk at all.
It seems to have plateaued now but we've thought that in the past. She's had lots of NHS physio but still waiting to actually meet a FND specialist as paediatric specialist places for FND are few-and-far-between. She is very cheery and not 'down' about it as she will almost certainly get better in time. It's a shame though for her to have this and be missing out on school, DofE this month, all the fun things at the end of school, piano lessons, tennis lessons; the list goes on. She can use the touch screen of her computer and her phone with her floppy hands. There's a bit more to it than that but that's probably as much detail as this BB will tolerate :-)
I imagine a few people here will have known people with FND so it's rare but not 'that rare'...
We just had a lovely day out at a motor museum and she enjoyed that almost as much as the rest of us. She couldn't drive in the racing car simulator but everything else was fine.
