Hi Wyn, it was 95 then next day the sp plateaued, rose a tad, and the following day would be a Friday, so probably no news. I thought on balance it would go down and while I was at a loss overall I had made a profit on my last ‘buy’.

When it continued to rise I sold more, everything as surely it couldn’t carry on…

So I guess I’ve learned that so can still go up with an RSI of 95 and for several days. The Friday RNS at HEMO wasn’t even anything special really.

Don’t sell everything is what I’ve certainly learned. I guess it goes back to Eve and an aversion to losing 80%.

On the plus side I did put some into AVCT so all ‘rise’ potentially not lost, just postponed.

An alternative would have been to hold onto HEMO and sunk more into my portfolio but that would probably smack of addiction!

It was on 95 almost straight away when the rise began. I didn’t have a huge amount but I sold and was a mistake. A lesson leaned. I see IMM is having a similar run now. Still, I hope to get back into HEMO when there is a pull back. Still early days there with their trials. I hope the experience will make me hang on a bit longer with AVCT when / if the time comes.

'Nothing to hold this back now !' would be reassuring if only it wasn't from "CC loves a Thursday RNS" source...

Hi Wyn, no real target (I know, I know) for SMWH other than I know it won't bag or anything like that, and I might sell earlier rather than later depending on what I'd like to do with the money.. Hemo has surprised me but I had a lot less in there so I'll wait to get back and hopefully for less than I sold (which shouldn't be too tricky. Hemo *always* raise after good news).

At the risk of generating predictably adverse comments Wyn, a little voice said to me 'Wyn would buy more on the bell' and I used the money from HEMO (I sold yesterday as the RSI was at 95) to buy them.

So I'm glad I was guessing correctly on the buy-on-the-bell decision, whatever actually transpires!

HEMO went up at 8am too so a bit nervous there but they are my own choices :-)

I'll but more HEMO later, when I get some WG of WH Smith money back.

Now the dust is settling over what appears to be great AVCT news, and I have topped up, my reply:

If you're selling a property in a consensual deal you don't sell off parts of the garden without mentioning this to the buyer you're friends with. Perhaps you do change the borders, sell off the garage, if it's a repossession but it also shows that the management aren't particularly in thrall to the proposed buyer, Sid.

'GREGGS DELAYS MOORHEAD APPOINTMENT UNTIL WH SMITH REVIEW COMPLETED

(Sharecast News) - Greggs said on Thursday that Robert Moorhead has asked to defer his appointment to the board after a review into WH Smith has been completed.

The bakery chain announced at the end of last month that it was appointing Moorhead as an independent non-executive director with effect from 1 October.

Moorhead was chief financial officer and chief operating officer of WH Smith before retiring from the board in November 2024.

Greggs said that Kate Ferry, who had been due to retire at the end of August, will stay on as a non-executive director and continue to chair the Audit Committee.

WH Smith shares tanked earlier this month as the retailer said it had instructed Deloitte to undertake an "independent and comprehensive" review, after it uncovered an accounting overstatement of around £30m for North America trading profit.

It said at the time that the overstatement was mainly due to "the accelerated recognition of supplier income" in the North America division.'

You're usually right Wyn. After the division was sold by WG I'm not surprised in a sense that they don't want to pay as much (but the money from the sale also helped WG's financial position, so swings and roundabouts) and no one pays more than necessary in business. I scarcely know what I'm talking about I know but the WG management are probably doing what's best for them rather than 'us'. Would be fab if some other group expressed an interest now.

It's certainly a game of chance and the rules don't exist when it comes to to tactics. With cars and houses the buyer who is most keen is always the one who highlights all the faults, not the one who smiles and says how lovely it all is.

And a cheap price does tend to encourage people on the sidelines..

Why the rush on Sid's part if the accounts are bad. Why don't they want to wait and then they get the real knockdown price.

It seems that they (aren't the WG management meant to be on our side? I forgot, they are one 'their own' side of course) are trying to make us believe the accounts are bad and we're lucky to be getting 30p but that narrative suits Sid better than anyone else.

Ps Everyone here knows that wyn trades on small price movements and targets. Both up and down. Yet Hurst continually asks for a target price off wyn along the lines of 200 ex-chinah. Wyn would have traded a thousand times before ‘200.00’ would be reached. Yet people claim they don’t understand that? Hence my conclusion that either they misunderstand on purpose - or they are not that bright.

Birds of a feather? More like chalk and cheese I’m afraid as wyn seems to make money while I’ve lost it.

Also, I was a ‘hug and holder’ of shares when wyn was trading from day one. I now trade a little but not that often having realised that I should take a bit of profit when available - apparently like everyone else on here even though they spent years denying it till recently.

Makes perfect sense to me as wyn draws attention to ‘predictions’, not the actual share price which I assume is important. Maybe I’m unique in understanding and I have an unusual skill? Seems obvious to me…

Or maybe people are just trying to misunderstand on purpose?

I honestly have no idea Megan, on news or where the SP is headed. Momentum seems to be with TLSA though, which is handy.

Unless you live in the USA I wouldn't have described this as a trader's share myself. I did once sell and bought a few more back but they had to fall a long way to make it worth it. I won't bother again when news could land anytime. I have enough UK shares if I wished to trade and without the FX and extra charges.

Ideally (and now I see it fell further) I would've waited longer but I bought today, not a huge amount, 3 times. It's still a profitable business so I've made worse choices.

I can't really monitor the SP tomorrow as we are driving to Stratford upon Avon :-) for the weekend. But Monday (driving home) is a holiday so I could top-up on Tuesday if it closes even lower.

I've done the falling knife thing and ALWAYS lost. However I've also watched other people do it and they've won :-/ Hopefully this is my turn for a break.
