For some reason that RNS didn't appear on LSE (maybe not Vox markets either?) but I received an email from either HL and / or The London Stock Exchange (worth having back-up sources for RNSs).

I do not know the financial rules, and count me as a non-shareholder.

IF there were talks on the verge of a deal and news leaked (or appeared to leak), wouldn't the share have been suspended yesterday? CC and TP wouldn't have to know the source of the leak but would they let the SP go to nearly +150% knowing it was almost certainly based on inside info, even if it came from 'the other side'?

So might that not imply that that there was no leak-able news yesterday? That doesn't mean there isn't going to be a deal but just not as close as some people are believing?

Eve get a mention at the end of this, but they get the decimal point in the wrong place / sp somewhat wrong. Written prior to today's movement of course:

J Richard, my understanding of the FSP is that we would only hear of a result of negotiations afterwards rather than during. Admittedly we could then get a higher bidder afterwards. I guess their could be several bidders but without an RNS we should presume that the latest news ('no firm bids') was the position.
Anyway, all guesswork for me. I wish I'd had better luck today :)

Yes Yanis, we were in similar positions though you'd invested 20% more (give or take) and I decided to salvage £5k to fight again. I new the risks. Had the price dipped lower than my 'sell' price (0.36) I had considered buying some back, just in case, but it didn't.
The reasons I sold haven't changed until we get an RNS. I've put half the cash elsewhere now and maybe that will come good. If AVCT do well I shall be fine too.
No point in ME speculating on eve now. I may yet still get back in; stranger things have happened.

Hi dontgive, no I missed my chance completely. If the SP had gone lower first I might have bought back some, as a punt, (knowing that I had bought back for less than I sold) but when wyn said he'd bought I was already looking at a paying higher price than my last sale.

Having salvaged what I did I didn't want to risk losing it by trying too hard, but the way things panned out that was a mistake. The reason I sold was the reason I didn't jump back but if there is some sort of leak then that would explain the day. I really would feel cheated then! If today, Friday, there's a deal in the background, why RNS what they did on Tuesday? If there's no leak, if it's based on AR and his daily 8.3's then eve could quickly be where it was yesterday. People do think – as we spoke about here often – that the eve brand has a lot going for it so it does seem believable that there'll be some sort of deal but at what point in the trajectory of eve's fortunes?

Stxx, didn't you see Wyn write earlier that he got in at just under 0.4 (I think it was 'under' rather than over). So he's done pretty well!

It's me, losing my nerve a couple of days ago I feel sorry for! Still, I could not risk losing on eve again so steered clear this morning. Nice for you guys though, well done.

IF this were to be a leak then that would be pretty corrupt. I suspect more likely to be that herd mentality that Wyn talks of.

Dontgive, it's a bit of a bummer tbh. I've had two chances to sell at a good profit and yet held on for more. That was my mistake. Honestly, and I know we disagree, I don't blame CC. If she hadn't spent in France we'd have more cash now and maybe eve would have weathered the storm, but when she paid for that nice advert she thought there was enough momentum in the UK to carry eve along; there would have been in normal circumstances (eve got through covid which was a huge achievement after all).

Anyway, it's not all over yet. 7am's will be interesting for a while yet. You sold some a few weeks ago so you know what it's like.

P.S. I've thought and posted that eve would be immediately profitable if taken over and then run from the office of the new owner. That should still be true. A bid should've come in. I held on for a bid and it cost me several thousand compared to if I'd sold in June.

Perhaps the potential buyer are just in a hole too atm? People here said CC should have been more cautious, not gone for French expansion and with hindsight they were right. Maybe the Sainsbury's / Argos and DFS of the world are now doing what CC should've done in 2021.

I shall post news if I get it. I still look for info. But will keep my opinions to myself as they are probably of little help or relevance now.

Yes I am out (except for a tiny token) and I would agree with you that it's poor form to purposely try to deflate people on here but if I were more confident, I would have stayed (which is the major point). I could've kept quiet regarding my sale but I've always posted what I think and being 'out' now is quite pertinent.

People here are saying that a bid might / will come in now but my point was, why would bidders delay to the last second, torture people with uncertainty, and then bid just before eve go bust. What would be their motivation?

On the other hand, if eve go into admin they can pick up the juicy bits and say "it's only business"; there'll be no offence given, people will understand etc.

The point I'm trying to get to the bottom of is, will a bid will come in before administration? It's a big difference in terms of shareholders' prospects here. I still have much of the money on hand to jump back in if I really thought a good bid would arrive. I'd rather jump back in before news of the bid, if one is imminent. Maybe I'm trying to justify selling out to myself in the hope that I made the right decision. It certainly wasn't written to put the boot in.

If friendly DFS, cuddly Argos, were about to bid, would they really torture the eve staff and management (who they do business with) like this? Why wouldn't they make a firm bid even if it were at a fraction of a penny?

I bought a nearly-new Omega off a brother-in-law's watch-addicted friend 15 yrs ago. £600 I recall paying. I saw the same watch in Geneva airport for >£4000 in the summer. I'm sure I'd get my £600 back and have the pleasure of it in the meantime. WOSG do seem to have solidity which is something of a bonus now. I still have a lot to claw back after eve!
If eve get to a ridiculously low sp (if not already happened) I may put in a tiny amount, just in case someone - DFS etc – would rather buy them before they go bust.

And I shall wait with WOSG to see if the interest rate rise has an effect short term. One trouble I have when there's cash in my account is NOT spending it immediately.. You are right with my style LTB&H style. You've often been right with your charts and immediate movement so it works for you but I hang on too long without selling so the charts are less helpful. ABDX for example. Unless it goes bust, almost everything seems to have a bounce if you wait long enough. I did hold Glen but sold before the rise, after months of nothing happening.

I for one would never post when the knowledgable people are in full flow on the important stuff, DE and TME etc. I suspect others are the same. Doesn't mean I am not reading.

But a T/O now, with the FSP, would not be on the open market. These trades now are folk on the periphery, gambling on whether there'll be an offer from a big boy. IF AR were planning on a bid he probably wouldn't be buying everyday, supporting the sp as he is.

Could be that eve received an offer of fractions of a pence in June and then it looked too low. But had eve turned it down we would have received an explanation of why it was rejected; we haven't received an explanation so it could still be on the table, or was never made – all theoretical of course.

The sp now might focus eve minds is what I think you are implying but I doubt they needed to be focussed much more as they've seen the figures long before we have.
