Rather odd. I just bought a tranch of shares via Halifax (couldn't wait any longer) and immediately found I was 0.19% up!

O.k, it's not going to finance my retirement but I've never had that before.

Any thoughts?

I have pointed out a number of times over the last few years that rather than chase high grade copper in the NW of Racevourse or the crown of Ascot, a lot of effort was expended trying to link the two pits in a relatively low grade area. I was told it's all to do with efficiency of extraction - or something. Personally, I've always felt higher grades and more copper should have been the goal and I think we would be in a stronger position now if we had. But what do I know?

Just a thought: but if we are getting a secure source of power, which by all accounts is primarily hydro, then surely this is at the expense of the local population as there is only so much water to go round. Just wondering if this may cause issues with the locals and resentment towards the comapny ?

Can't see how Trump winning the US election is going to help FFR. His and the republican's philosophy is 'America First' and this means isolationism as was attempted in the last two WWs, a long held instinct. As it is, the republicans want to cut funding to Ukraine (the money should go to America first...).

Such a policy means a loss of soft power and influence. What most Trump supporters miss is that America paying bills around the world gives them influence. They believe that they can stop paying the bills while retaining the influence.

The world doesn't work that way.

Not my own approach but it clearly works for you.

Only silver is a better conductor that copper (touch pricey) and the next best thing after copper is aluminium which has 'dis-similar metal' issues which can lead to corrosion and its higher resistance leads to increased transmission losses. I don't know of any suitable alloys but there may be some I've not heard about.

Howezap, if the resources had been spent looking for the crown of Ascot....doen't that mean that we would have two high grade parcels - admittedly a few km away from each other? Yes, people keep telling me that I'm missing the point but I'd rather have those two 'crowns' than a failed bridge.

Howezap: yes, i understand they wanted to join them up but it seemed to me that that pipedream quickly faded. Two close by porphyries seemed like a good consolation. If the extra time and resources had been invested in finding the crown of Ascot we may well be talking about BR having 1.5 or 1.6 MT of inferred copper. Still, water under the bridge.

Jezzoo, assuming we are in a good financial place, I would not mind some drilling to firm up Ascot which was pretty well ignored in the report that put the dampers on BR. We never did find the sweet spot of Ascot as all of the drilling went to finding the bridge between Racecourse and Ascot - never did understand that ploy....

On the point of the price of copper per ton, does anybody know if the mining industy uses:

US ton = 2000 lbs

Long ton (British) = 2240 lbs

Metric ton = 2204 lbs

I image it's the uS ton but would like confirmation - thanks.

Just bought a top up and it shows as a sell. Suspect a lot of alleged sells this morning are actually buys.

Last time Copper was this expensive was about a year ago.
