Note that in the US it is Labor day and hence the markets are closed. I feel the silver price would have reached $41 if the US markets had been open.

I have a US based main market silver miner (Endeavour Silver) which, unlike the AIM market, follows the silver price closely and was looking forward to hitting new recent highs - until I realised it was a day off. Now I have to wait until tomorrow afternoon but if the Silver price continues to rise in the Far East and Europe tomorrow morning then there's going to be a lot of catching up to be done.

With silver having breached the $40 mark, all the silver pundits and chartist say it should be a clear run up to $50. If so, the leverage to the UFO price should be huge. Silver is the 'hot' market spot at the moment and WCS is the 'hot' Aussie company at the moment. UFO currently in the red but that happened on a couple of days last week but finished firmly in the black.

My only complaint about the write-up is that is makes it sound like UFO have done all the drill work based on the fund raise in the spring. No mention of a JV with WCS. Just a tad misleading.

Respect your input to this board but don't know why you would think hybrids are a disgrace. Most hybrid drivers do not have 'a bit of electricity but mainly run on petrol'. I bought a hybrid 15 months ago because 95% of my miles are local. I can do about 40 miless on the battery so that covers all my local trips. When I travel further then yes, I use the petrol. But in the 15 months I've had the car I think I've filled up 4 times. As for the electricty, yes, my electricity bills have gone up but I have PV panels on the roof and I recharge for an hour a day between 12 and 1 pm when my panels are best situated to collect the sun. I could do better if I had a smart meter but the supplier did not seem keen! So, it depends on how you use your car. If your a travelling salesman then, yes, hydrids are not really the thing for you but mine suits me perfectly thanks.

The fall in the sp makes perfect sense. Good publicity over the 3 day weekend draws punters in then the traders take a double digit profit within 24 hours. Most will be back again, some today. Healthy pause for breath.

It's interesting that there was, if memory serves me well, a lot of negativity when the JV with West Coast was first announced but they seem to be unlocking the value in the assets. Something that was not happening prior to that event. So, 30% of something (apparently quite large) is better than 100% of nothing.

Odd that the spread should be so wide when trades are higher now than they've been for a long time...

As a holder of both JLP and GLR I think the negative views on the JLP site are over blown. I think many JLP holders invested because there was diversity in their products and see going headlong into one ore- copper as an increase in risk. However, I can't see that the board there would think of doing this unless they are nailed-on-certain that the copper route is going to make a better long term return. Just hope they want GLR to be part of that story.

Kaiser, one aspect of the coming copper shortage that I don't hear prople talking about is the electrification of the third world. Any individual 3W countries copper demand may not be great but all of these countries want to grow and deliver electricity to the millions of people that live in isolated communities. When summed over the whole of the third world this must be a huge market. India alone must have a huge demand for its growing grid system as well as the household appliances that everybody needs in the modern world.

Chrisp: the 3 XTR drill results support previous drilling which was even higher grade including a 1 m length which was around 50% Cu (from memory). Slowly building a strong case for commercial success.

ART, as Jezzoo says, these are on top of the previous results ! They are also increasing the area over which these results have been found so they may not be as good as the previous results but they show that Cu & AG ore is spread over a larger area making them more commercially viable.

Lets assume the 'dear leader' is correct and his plans work out perfectly. In ten years time Americans will be working in tech sweat shops earning third world wages (no cheap immigrants remember) to remain competitive. Is this what MAGA voted for?

ART: yes, an XRF scanner was used on BR but if I remember correctly they stopped using it because it caused the user to 'cherry pick' and only the best results registered with the user. So don't have too much confidence in XRF results.

But, this is the best up tick seen from XTR in a long tiime. Lets hope more jump on board rather than use it to get out....

Copper price having another run at the $5/lb marker.

Copper approaching a 6% rise today. Which highlights 2 questions. The site I use to monitor the copper price is:

Now the reason given for this rise is DT's tariffs potentially causing the price of imported Copper to rise as the US only get about half its copper from domestic sources. Well, if that's the case, the price should surely be for copper in the US. Does it also cause the world price to rise?

The second question is: when the price of copper is quoted in terms of $ per Ton, are they referring to an imperial ton, a metric ton or a short ton. I hear people saying $10.5k/T while others are quioting more like $9.5k/T. Does anybody know?
