RE: My take on the positive stuff from reading the full report6 Jul 2021 10:01
"Funny how he read the paragraph but chose not to include the first sentence." ICB as I said, I read the whole document - are you suggesting that I ought to have posted that too? I simply chose to reference BG's quote. My leaving out part of it was not indicative of anything.
I am happy to be transparent ICB. I think I have argued my case well enough over an extended length of time and have proven that a healthy dose of realism and objectivity to be far more appropriate when discussing the prospects of both AEX and Tanzania. I simply choose to offer some balance to the unbridled positivity of the "rose tinted spectacle" brigade whose (often) self-serving optimism has proven time after time, year after year to be both totally unjustified and often deliberately disingenuous.
I am not saying that the events being predicted by some won't happen (I hope they do) but nothing, in my view, that has recently occurred or has been published is any reason to make unsubstantiated claims about imminent developments and progress.
And for that matter ICB you have still failed to argue how the statement below could and should be interpreted as being indicative of things being resolved sooner rather than later. You have simply stated that it does - How do "robust discussions" equate to short term resolution?
"The Company continues to hold robust discussions with the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation ("TPDC") in seeking resolution of the outstanding payments for past gas sales from the Kiliwani North development licence."
It doesn't.
AEX and APT have been involved in discussions with the Tanzanian authorities, robust and otherwise, for years and yet it has never been indicative of anything at all; the Tanzanian authorities work at their own pace. Just look at teh time taken for the Farm-Out approval.
Even if AEX had stated that they expect resolution of the invoices soon, even if they stated that they were in discussion with party or parties about a JV for Kiliwani / Nyuni, based on past performance it would still be prudent to apply a healthy measure of caution to any expectations. The very fact that, to date they have made no such claims is, by itself, revealing. Even the BoD themselves recognise that it is a dangerous game to make predictions about the timing of anything that relies upon the Tanzanian authorities. They have learned their lessons over the years as have many lth and posters on this board. Newcomers would be wise to do the same.
The idea that, as an example, the very fact that they have said nothing about this to be evidence that something is going on in the background is simply fanciful. These same claims and statements have been made by many over the years and they have always proven to be total fantasy.
One day they will be right - but then even a broken clock is right twice a day....
