Just to come back to the debt thing now I’ve had a look.

Net debt increased by 131% from 572 to 1321m for the year.

Of the 749m increase in debt, 503m (67% of the increase in debt) came from dividend payments (74m) and 431m from share buybacks.

The company’s net debt increased to £1.32bn, from £572m in 2023, resulting in a leverage ratio of 1.9x, in line with its target range of 1.5x to 2.0x.

What’s the betting they’ll be booms, rockets, buyouts, the lot coming next week?……

I sold here on the morning of the results and started moving into QQ. Kept a small position here to keep me interested. Wish I’d have ploughed in that morning (Friday) but edged in, buying Friday, Monday & again Tuesday afternoon on the small dip. I’ll be holding there as I think it’s got more legs and the sector should remain in favour for the foreseeable. For me, it was out of QQ, BAE & CHG but glad I opted for QQ.

Anyway, I posted something on the Prudential forum yesterday, with regard to the market sentiment since big Don stepped into power. It’s clear to see that monies, for now, have flooded out of the US. It looks like it’s moved to France (Cac) & the Uk at similar levels. More heavily into Germany (Dax) and the Hang Seng is massively up.

How long will that money shift remain in place is the question I cannot answer. Sooner or later will it return to the US, once value looks more acceptable there, or has Don fooked it for a good while yet? Volatile times ahead….

Hope you’re well. Let’s hope the potential gets realised and sentiment returns for the better. I was a little disappointed that the SP hasn’t managed to keep up with the Seng. Hoping it might have done with the Pru’s policy movements. Still more than happy to give this a few years.

So, if the SP remained consistent (£3.274 or €3.97) over the full billion, they would buy back and cancel 251.889m shares. Once cancelled and excluding any rise from sentiment, the physical difference to the SP would be 18.14 pence

1st tranche, €500m in total. Finish 30/05. So they can cancel after agm when voted to accept cancellation.

2nd tranche, same. Finish this time next year. Again vote at agm and cancel

I too will be adding to my Rio holding. Although, not until after ex div day. Always 30% to be had there with a little patience. Hoping there will be a sell off after people take the dividend.
