RE: Buys buys buys19 Mar 2022 09:08
Addison,
Just to add to the point made by sash on the MM activity (good post).
For me, we see posters crying foul and MM games on pretty much every share, particularly AIM, when the SP is not moving as they expect it to do.
Not saying there are not ways they can and may use to impact the market (such as the ability to report trades late, limit the block size of available shares), but I see the cry of MM games as more perhaps sceptics with theories based loosely on fact, in the main (see also posts about Code 1 for the believers, shorts closing, large trade in the background and share will fly when done, etc).
Markets are not as simple as people think, just look at volumes and trade directions, often there are more buys than sells (or vice versa), but the SP does not reflect that. There are many factors tat will impact the SP too. both macro and micro.
Just my view.
When posters are not winning, it is due to dark arts, foul play, but when the SP is going up it is because they picked winners and are great, insightful investors. There will often be more than one reason, many, in fact that are at play that will affect the SP and points may often be exaggerated either for effect, or to appear more plausible
Many on these boards do seem more cynical and open to believe plausible reasons, sometimes far-fetched ones, often due to past experience and losses (I have had many).
For e.g. placing shares being churned - why is is that whenever there is a placing posters all seem to believe that 100% of these shares are either forward sold or traded for a quick 5%-10% profit, when the first is simply impossible (shares are not even listed, so cannot be sold), and the second means the company and broker has failed in their duty as the whole point of a placing is to put shares in the hands of investors who believe in the company.
Hey, maybe I am the cynical one, or just naive in my view that the markets are not as bent as many like to make out.
Yes, there will always be exceptions, that can explain that something sinister may be going on, but the exception does not make the rule, as is often portrayed.
There will always be bad apples who bend the rules to suit their agenda, just like there are ones who will always play with a straight bat. That goes for posters too!
I do have industry experience, but not specifics in respect of AIM, or with regard to MM activity (although I am familiar with regulatory requirements), so perhaps my view is skewed as an 'industry insider', and a result knowing how regulated the industry is (although the FCA are pretty ineffectual, imo).
Agree that 3p seems to be a random figure as a barrier. Why a round figure like this?
Not really a believer of charts for AIM stocks as too many unknowns to be of any great use, again imo
Anyway, just my thoughts. Others will disagree.
Happy to be invested here.
Good weekend all
