Well I guess most billion dollar deals takes more than a fortnight to work out.....

Ygen is (by some margin) the worst performing share in my portfolio why i dropped half of it yesterday. I am rather amazed that such a high-tech diagnostics outfit with global reach and lead by a ‘highly astute’ CEO, doesn’t fare better in the midst of a global pandemic. Really odd. Even more odd, some holders here appear to think of LR as some some of religious oracle who turns everything he touches into gold. Maybe he does, but i for one have seen none of it. I guess I got excited by some of the overly optimistic posts in this group prior to buying. For those of you religiously staying long here, you better keep your day jobs.....

Last resource estm RNS came in at 3.35pm on March 23rd.
Trading volume isn’t spectacular yet, but seems to go in mostly one direction !!!
Could become a very hot afternoon in more than one way.....

Democracy is when there is free and fair elections/referendums. Both the 2016 ref and 2019 where embroiled with illegal campaigning, psychographic manipulation, loads of campaign arguments direct lies, etc.

So No mate, there was nothing democratic about it.

Nice confidence buys by Schroeder, who has upped their stake in DLAR from 5 to 10% over last couple of days (see RNS of Friday 7th) - not shown on LSE.co.uk for some reason. 250p before end of year !!

We can’t really argue the govt isn’t helping shareholders in the CoVid related businesses. Keeping schools open is the dead-certain way to assure maximum asymptomatic spread across the population. Not much different from having the virus spread from door to door by Royal Mail. Note to one self, I MUST write a thank you note to the government when I get a minute.....

I wonder if they’d have done the same had it been Ebola.

Ok, let’s say people trusted them in December last year, enough to give them a majority of 82. That’s why the legislation which allows them to place large CoVid and Brexit orders with Friends&Family sailed right through Parliament, completely short cutting all rigorous procurement mechanics, why the petition started yesterday is utter waste of time. With a 82 majority, they can do whatever they like as they just put it into law !!!

100% agreed.
The only one to blame is the people who voted this bunch of cowboys into government. They promised they’ll get Brexit done by making up the rules as they went along. Now they are getting CoVid done by making up the rules as they go along.
As with Brexit, it will be a shoddy job. But people trust them........

Hi, I’m a bit thick so apologies if it shines through. Has the govt literally placed orders worth £5bn already ?? I mean, Randox has partly backfired. Surely they aren’t stupid enough to jump into bed with some other new entrants ?? I guess that’s where I easily could be wrong :-)

Debt is an issue. Not a problem. That’s what AD has eluded to himself, and that makes perfect sense.

Cash burn. Most companies are burning cash like crazy to stay afloat at the moment, whilst taking no orders. I’m not quite sure re Kier but think they have secured near £0.5bn of work during CoVid. I can’t top of head think of any other project organisation which have done that.

As for the share price, well that’s entirely in the hands of market sentiment and doesn’t prove a damn thing other than what the market sentiment is. Kier is hardly a ‘follow the flock“ kinda share).

With SP stagnant at 300p, clearly the expectations of a govt order is already priced in. (I didn’t say the order is priced in, but the expectations are). Any views on how hard the SP will be hit if a govt contract do not appear ?

(Which I think is an unlikely scenario, but we are dealing with a govt who happily spent £50m of shipping services from a shipper without ships, just because a cousin of the boss is a Tory sponsor).

One morning in a not too distant future, this share will start to go up, and up and up..... risk/reward can be a wonderful thing.

Totally agree.
The only things that (imv) matter now is 1) efficacy of team running the business, 2) quantity of work won, 3) quality of work won (as in margin). Everything else is just noise...

I appreciate that many former/current holders have suffered badly. This sector was for years mismanaged by its bosses. Those days are (imv) gone....

I guess Kier could have kept holders more up to date with what’s going on, but all things considered I’d prefer they just get on with sorting themselves out, which I have absolutely no reason to think isn’t happening........

Debt-free is good, but debt is dirt cheap. Besides, construction companies live on building big things, and then getting paid. Try multiplying that with +200 ongoing projects.
I follow several CoVid plays in U.K. and abroad, and their shareholders all think each of them is worth billions. Well, maybe it will turn out they all were right ;-) Nothing wrong with hoping....
