Adv11 I would hope people weren't laughing at you, I must have missed it though. However you sold at not much off today's SP ( maybe 3.5% higher at most) you are now going to buy back at half that... So that's around 190. Your reasons are Russia will hit back? Russia has been under sanction, including rosneft for a long time. What do you think will tip Putin into confiscating all western assets or what do you imagine he will do to BP?

I couldn't see what exactly Australia said in regards to energy sanctions, it didn't seem to mention exactly what, if you have that detail would be great. Also how can sanctions start on rosneft? Havnt they already got sanctions since 2014 anyway

Why are you so angry about inflation and Divi? ( Beyond the obvious) You don't hold shares, you have no intention of investing and you could go somewhere else and grab higher div amounts? This is an open forum and everyone can say anything, but why are you posting the same statement, for what purpose, if there is something you are trying to find out I'm sure the much better and informed posters than me can help you out if you ask. Everyone forgets about the **** last few years now money is coming in, they forget it wasn't long ago that profit was bleak and it would be potentially unwise to start throwing around money when we are still very much recovering and reforming, all though off on a strong footing.

MrMath or someone in Eastern Ukraine does something that leads to him having to act. I can't help but feel Boris is loving this atm, hes acting like a **** and making a lot of noise, he just wants to be seen as a Churchill figure.

Regarding drops etc obviously the past doesn't mean it will happen again, but when Russia invaded in 2014, the FTSE did not drop by 20%, nor does it appear to have had a massive impact on BP. However it feels like most of the market acts like a flock of geese atm and is scarred by anything and going all places. Turbulent times indeed.

Below £4? I mean BP could have swung up and down normally to get close to that without Russia, it's only a few %. Not sure if it was emerald but agreeing with emerald would mean at least 360 - 50% reduction.

Pang was just about to post that, if this is potential something they will do if Russia respond to the 48 hour meet request and don't do anything stupid before then, then maybe this could lead somewhere.

You say everything will drop, but put moved BP money or still have money in other shares

US will want to sanction energy, EU will not. US seems to be getting a bit vocal, abd Boris seems to be using it as a smoke screen. I really hope they aren't using the environment for advantage or distraction. War would be terrible, if sanction did occur wouldn't Russia just send everything to China? Though I believe he knows he has EU in a corner.

I don't see any share / property being annex from BP, at the worst maybe the money will be off limits and sat somewhere for a while? Not sure how that would work. I just hope above all else if ignoring my shares that there is no war for all the other reasons .

Why would someone try to buy it out then as per the rumours, or is Matt simply looking for money to take it private himself?

Sorry if this has been asked, as I only drop in and out of checking this forum. But if there is a buy out does that mean Matt would lose control, as I don't see him doing that? And if Matt does retain control, why would a company put money in?

Licker was just trying to look that up, I am not certain of these figures but BP paid 1.6 bil Vs Amazon 500 mil in tax 2021.
On some thing BP already pay double tax.

Forgot to add, there has to be better ways like I have said before and a WT is short sited, they need to keep an eye on the bigger picture and a solution.

Windfall tax isn't a cure, it's a band aid that probably won't even be spent by most people on what it's for or get to the people that really need it. Do it this year, will be exactly the same next year and the year after until a reliable and progressive energy source is created, which is what BP are trying to do and will take even longer if WT is imposed. selective WT is just a bad idea and will hurt investment at a time it's sorely needed.
