Not sure Norway is a good example, don't they own like 60-70 % of all the oil and own Equinor? What your talking about isn't an oil and gas issue, it's like bumble I think said about tax, loop holes etc. Every business will use what they can and has tax relief and subsidies, it's how business works. O & G are just a convenient target, when others have got away with so much more. I also wonder without these would oil etc in UK have even been developed as much as it has? For instance due to **** poor policy's in COVID, I believe Amazon got massive tax breaks opening warehouses or something, that they were already going to open, when they were trying to bring more investment in. I think they have backed up enough to not pay huge.amount of tax for years. This is off the top of my head and vague, so sorry, but my point being is if you look around it's happening alot and o&g is just an easy target , they provide commodities that you couldn't live without and still use, rather than say Amazon, but let's make sure they have all the reasons in the world not to invest in UK more? It seems to be like your basically saying that gov should take over and make it state owned, or at the least ' steal' companies stuff. Russia hasn't even gone that far, even though there are murmurs, because that to me sounds like an act of war
