Sorry if this already discussed, but can't see any post here saying one Shorter has left !! All the recent Shorters including JPM are probably at a loss here. A great stockmarket day overall. Onwards and Upwards !!
Yea MarkBellUk, there was a lot of confidence around the 300p level at the time that the sp would head much higher, but then some nasty RNS's came out. I've enough invested myself and so declined averaging down when sp was in the 90p's, obviously with hind sight wish I'd loaded up !!
Thank you mick-b.
MarkBellUK, are you sure you didn't mean to 320p as we could do with the higher target price !! My avg is 280p. But well done Lord Cruddas !!
Agree MrG123, Shorters late to the party !! And surprised that JPMorgan can't find much larger companies to Short, and with much higher profit potential, like some of the very over priced Big 7 Techs !! Maybe a new recruit at JPM who has a low authorisation level ?!! Look forward to the Short Squeeze when Rusty proves them wrong !!
Stuartmich, the DEC Div arrives at your broker on the correct day, mine is ii, but later in the day because it's from the US. The broker then has to do various reconciliations which delay the forwarding of the divs to share owners. The December div was rec'd by ii late on 31st Dec 2023 so I didn't receive it until 2nd Jan 2024, but in fairness 31st Dec was a half day !! For tax reasons still deemed as rec'd in 2023, rather than 2024, which is relevant for my tax !!
Fleccy, "If OFCOM hadn't ordered BT to reduce prices then there wouldn't even be a case, since the case against BT is based purely on the fact that BT voluntarily reduced prices on OFCOM's instruction."
All BT need to do in Court, therefore, is to prove what you say fleccy and OFCOM will have to pay the penalties, if any, because BT weren't responsible ? Am I missing something ?
Greygeorge, if the whole DEC operation is a con, then why do the DEC Accounting Auditors every year state that the business is a going concern ? Or maybe the Auditors are also a con ? The Shorters are there because the Nat Gas price is very low and DEC has high debt with high interest rates. This scenario means that Hedging their prices is ever more important, it doesn't mean that the business is going bust.
Give us the detail of why you think it's all a con rather than just saying the word.
Oiled-up, I admit 7 shorters with over 5% Short annoys me, but we are where we are at 854p even with all those shorters. There must be a limit on how many shares these shorters can acquire as naked shorting is illegal. Isn't Biden causing the lower Nat Gas price by preventing exports to Europe and two terminals in Texas will be opening up again in May2024 ?
I'm a LT HOLD anyway.
Didn't realise the payments started yesterday as interactive investor's news content didn't give that detail.
But it's shocking that £46,800 (6%) is being handed to a NED's firm for the introduction of the investors and saying WE Shareholders think it's fair per the RNS.
How really 'dirty' is the BOD of this company, I guess we'll find out in time, but the Prospectus and A/Cs have to be finished by the 5th receipt of £156k in Apr2024 anyway.
Well they have to complete the Prospectus for the FCA and before that have to complete, publish and file the A/Cs both before these extra dilutive shares and options are issued !! So stop dithering Robbie and get them finished before Caracal has no money or gold left !!
So SHEL is morally owed USD1b !! The idea of 'forcing' Western businesses to abandon their Russian assets was partly to weaken Russia, having an extra USD1b is hardly weakening it !! Also, these asset amounts should be released from Frozen Russian Bank A/C balances and used for Ukraine's war effort or compensated to SHEL and others who have lost because of the West's pressure on them to abandon the assets. Hunt and EU haven't taken these asset losses into A/C within their EPL and Energy taxes.
Surprised this BB is so quiet when BAB share price is firing on all cylinders !!
EVOSTI, what you do depends on your circumstances and what your perceived opportunity cost is. I have significant BAB and RR so have already sold some BAE (bought at 400p in Oct2020) and bought some other stocks which I feel will double within 3 years.
So if you have no other Defence type stocks, perceive enough growth for BAE over next few years v other perceived opportunities, don't need the cash for other things, then I'd certainly hold and maybe buy more if no other perceived better opportunities.
I've given a Strong Buy also !!
Oldfortyniner and swingman, Yes, never thought of Shorting as being a type of manipulation, though have always viewed it as not quite right in that it concerns selling another's asset, loan goods instead of stolen goods re legal title, and why doesn't it apply for other assets, eg bonds, commodities, paintings, cars, even houses ?!!
The idea that Shorting makes for a more healthy Market is not applied to other assets, at least don't think so, so are their Markets less healthy ?!!
CR888, I hope re sales staff paid their commission up front that there is a clawback if a sale doesn't complete ?
Also, what is your hat made of, something tasty I hope ?
RR has gone up 5-fold+ in 3+ years and BAE has more than trebled in 3+ years so wait and see for DARK over next 3 years !!
