Gold fell only 0.53% whilst AU fell 5 04% !! What other factors at play here besides Gold Price and USD Exch Rate to GBP ?

Tibbs, I realise it's hindsight, but Glencore has moved up quickly this week due mainly ti China stimulous. The airlines are creeping up also and oil companies will probably tirn back up after today's news from Lebanon.

You neglected to mention China stimulous (yes many are sceptical, but China has surprised to the upside many times before and Pres Xi is now taking a visible interest in getting China back on track) and the extra oil demand from falling US Int rates and other region rates. Biden also wants the oil price low for the election and we all know how much manipulation takes place ....

Moniman, BP would move out of UK if it becomes their best option. Shell have already indicated as much. HMG cannot stop a major International company leaving the UK.

Shorting is an activity contrary to Contract Lae where one must have Title (ownership) to goods in order to legally sell them. Selling something received on Loan tbh I find very odd. Don't think there's any other scenario where one can legally sell an asset received on loan.
