A high dollar certainly doesn't help in the short term but we still need to see a long term solution for energy supply that fits economic development and controls climate change.
Without that, the volatility we are seeing now will increase exponentially.

Yes, all the pressure has been on reducing usage of carbon based fuels but demand has stayed constant and is actually increasing - in the mean time capital expenditure for replacement sources of carbon based fuels has been heavily scaled back resulting in the current supply problems because of the lack of funding.

Also supply was adversely impacted by commodity prices collapsing as a result of Covid with the result that many producers cut back production and closed uneconomic assets and the war in Ukraine has made maters even worst.

A lot of renewable projects are now ready to roll and by 2030 we could see a lot more renewables in the energy mix. I think heavy industry will lead the way with multiple off the grid solutions that will really make a difference.

They explain how in Taiwan, bikers can swap batteries for free when they run out of charge at special battery stations.

I wonder if this same concept could be used for a motor bike powered by a hydrogen powered steel fuel cell and instead of swopping a battery, swop a small reusable hydrogen cylinder.

Its likely that the fuel cell powered motor bike would be cheaper to run than the battery powered bike, with little difference in the manufacturing costs of the vehicle.

I have decided to just enjoy the summer and will review the portfolio carnage in the Autumn.
Hopefully by that time we will be able to see some positives and the market will start to rally.

It doesn't, but company data seems a lot less relevant at fixing a companies SP at the moment.

Even FTSE100 companies like AHT, who recorded record profits and increased their dividend just 10 days ago, are close to year lows because of market sentiment and outlook.

The point is don't expect the SP to reflect the true value of the company until general market conditions improve.
