Technology moves on and becomes more efficient, maybe hydrogen won't be the answer, it could be ammonia, but we have to change eventually from a high carbon economy and for the UK the best way to do that with renewables is by wind power.

If Enquest had assets in wind power they would simply be selling the energy produced for others to do with as they wished - just as they do with their oil production.

I think that the onus is on oil companies to diversify as we are seeing with the oil majors to become energy companies.
The oil majors are basically retaining their major oil assets but looking to the future and investing in renewables as well.

This will I think be the way forward for smaller oil companies including Enquest.
If Enquest want to be loved again they need to embrace the changing market and in the North Sea that means wind power.

The energy industry is no different to any other, you have to give the customer what they want, even if it doesn't seem to be a wise, practical or profitable choice.

This study is worth a read - they talk about a 16 year transition period from 100% natural gas to 100% green hydrogen without mixing.
Local studies are also underway to mix various percentages - ranging from 10-40% - of green hydrogen with natural gas in the UK and Italy.

What we need now is an active market with traders buying and selling to take profit and plenty of availability for investors.
Then with a good update in January the SP can rerate and move up under its own momentum.

Yes, overpriced because the new variant hasn't been priced in - the closure period this winter is now likely to be for several months, even with the vaccine - not sure that the SP will fall that much - it will probably just drift down with little volume - most investors will probably hold - certainly not a buy yet but will be when things improve.

Short term Covid woes I think - investors can see light at the end of the tunnel but not yet - patience will be rewarded.

Brent is lagging behind equities - probably because the short term demand for crude is badly affected by the pandemic all around the globe, except China - unfortunately that means Enquest is not joining in todays party but patience will win out eventually.

I was solidly against Brexit but I think that now we have reached this position the actual impact will be far less drastic than expected - no thanks to the politicians.
As you point out politicians are the enemy of investors but I certainly won't be changing my investment strategy, if we did that every time a political decision created problems we would get nowhere.

There is no need to separate it out from the gas main - existing appliances and fuel cells can run on a mix of green hydrogen and natural gas without much alteration. The Weichai collaboration is for natural gas powered fuel cells. Also to get the ball rolling some companies, such as Ocado, already have a fleet of natural gas powered HGV's.

It would be almost like the switch from town gas to natural gas in reverse.

The good thing is that it could be done in easy stages as more green hydrogen became available - mainly generated from wind power in the UK.

Yes, London closed - open Tuesday, Wednesday and half day Thursday - then as normal from next Monday.

The consensus seems to be that Tech Stocks won't give ground in 2021 because most investors will hold, but most of the new money into the market will be invested elsewhere.
Banking and commodity stocks could have a much better year.

Another option would be to convert a whole city centre store into an upmarket shopping experience with all the luxury brands and some posh restaurants under one roof to attract home shoppers and tourists. There again M&S could look after the logistics etc.

Enquest has viable profitable assets that would be a valuable addition to any energy companies assets, especially if Bressay is added to the mix, basically an extension of Kraken.
If Enquest did come into play there would more than likely be more than one bidder - shareholders could do very well.

One retail sector that M&S haven't explored is luxury brands such as Louis Vuitton, Prada and Burberry.
These companies have been badly hit by the pandemic so now could be a good time to acquire them.
They would have to continue to operate independently to M&S but could use M&S logistics and warehousing.
