Perhaps a little disappointed the share price fell back, but in truth had I been told the share price would be 94.5p come day end, I would have settled for it happily. There is more to come imo, especially once the results are out giving details of the additional contracts won and partnerships which have not been reported generally to date. 100p on the horizon, don't see any share specific reason why this should fall back looking at the fundamentals. From todays RNS "The Board is pleased to report that GB Group has achieved a strong set of results, ahead of market consensus". For the year to March 2013, the Group expects to show an adjusted operating profit of not less than £5.1m (2012 £3.7m)." Thank you very much GBG. Hello GG; just caught me; about to head up the wooden stairs to Bedfordshire!. Just returned to my watchlist before shutting down and ........ yo!, there you are, great. £ in your eyes!, yeap, know that one ALL too well!. Then some rotter comes and picks your pocket just as you're about to think of all the ways you can spend all that profit.........but......, if I just leave it a little longer....then....., I can do even more!. Consequently you never get to realise that profit and enjoy it because you blink, or should that be BLNX, and it has gone. Didn't want it to happen with PEN. The share price has fallen back a little to day, so I wouldn't have got much more than what I did; but isn't it awful of us that once we sell out part of us wants the share to fall, so we can walk around with a smug smile on our face!. Yes, GG, I am guilty of that too, I admit; not that I want anyone to get hit by it. UFG, well, yes, I am still invested there. Don't intend selling yet. Slowly but surely I hope with that one. Don't want to make the same mistake as I did selling out of NET. Sold to buy into CVV, only to sell out of that at a loss and buy back into NET at a higher price. I have inceased my holding in NET again this week, using some of the profit from PEN; story seems good with the fundamentals plus latest recommendation from Growth Company Investor (one of my reads). Results out next week sometime for GBG, think it should be good. On that basis I increased my holding there by 1000 shares, again using some of the money from PEN. Results from GBO out sometime soon after Easter. Sent e-mail to GBO this morning and got a reply pretty promto, so pleasantly impressed; if not by their performance this week. Think some of it is on the back of the fiasco in Cyprus. That may/may not get sorted out over the weekend. Been looking at next opportunities, having mostly done another trawl of the FTSE AIM All Share Index. WGB looks top at present. It has been on my list of possibilities before so is no stranger. Not an exciting share but it is performing and meets the criteria I set. Just wish it was a little cheaper, but guess it is all relative. Glad to hear you are close to getting the house sorted. That must be a great feeling. Good for you. Being a fella, I think I have done well to clean the room and make it look presentable, even polished the table and put all the CDs away today!. Hey, you may laugh, but for me that is quite some achievement. Spring?!. It's only the end of March GG. Good evening BT don't worry about posting, you have other priorities I know. Hope you are making good progress with your book of jobs. Re. GBG, well we know that there will be a RNS out this next week, which leaves just 4 days. I would hope it would be out early in the week and be positive so as to give the market more time to react well, rather than get forgotten over the holiday long weekend, but we will see. Can't see any reason why it shoud be a negative RNS, but keep your eyes peeled on what is in the Chairmans statement. Re. PEN, I sold out on Wednesday, making a profit overall of around 50%. I think the rise on Monday was far too much despite the positive RNS, I would have expected the share to close the day around 50p, 53p at the very most, so a rise of over 60% set the alarms off to sell on a probable spike. Additionally the very quiet bb suddenly became over run with posters, 17 pages in one day!. When everyone starts buying in like that it is often a sign to sell out. I expected a retrace in the share price which has happened but not to the degree I thought it would. The posters seem to have gone, where I have no idea, I would have expected them to stay onboard until they started losing money on the retrace. I will keep PEN on my watchlist and may re-invest should the share price fall back to the mid-high 50s. I have other companys on my radar. Hope you have a good weekend. Below is a copy of a letter from John Constantin, Secretary of GBG in reply to an e-mail I sent last September regarding the lack of rns, in case you were wondering quite why there was no news apart from that given on their own website. 26 September 2012 Dear ....... As previously indicated, the release of a RNS is governed by the rules of our AIM listing. Whilst we may consider that news about the company may be greeted positively, it is more difficult to assess what impact it would have on the share price if an announcement is not supported by any metrics that analysts and investors expect to see with such announcements. In the situation with Huaxia CRIF, we would not be able to support the RNS announcement with any further details if questioned by shareholders (i.e how much additional revenue/profit would GB Group expect to see in the short to medium term for instance). This in turn could be viewed unfavourably by the market which may in turn have a negative impact on the share price. I trust that you also appreciate that we take advice in relation to any announcement that we make, and we must as an AIM company, heed that advice when given. In respect of future announcements, as the company progresses we will of course be making further RNS releases, subject to the qualifications regarding content. We will continue to make marketing releases through our website and trade press on other matters relating to the companys development. I empathise with your wish for there to be news that positively affects the share price, however we are contrained to act in the interests of all shareholders and also to operate in accordance with the rules of our AIM listing. Maybe I am taking a bit of a gamble here, but I have topped up my investment by another 1000 shares today, ahead of the results due next week. Latest news out from GBG (see post below) surely can only be good for the company although of course none of us know what may be lurking. Having bought in I noticed a couple of very large buys in between 10 and 11 a.m; so hopefully somebody else has confidence too and possibly has wind of what is coming. To raise the capital to invest I sold out of PEN which had risen by over 60% on Monday alone, on the back of a good rns. I just couldn't see how the price could be justified and was/am expecting a retrace despite a rise in share price after an initial fall after I had sold on a stop. I have looked at the share price graph for GBG this evening and the only thing of concern for me is that there have been lower lows and lower highs of late, so obviously hoping this is just not another lower high; it really shouldn't be looking at the fundamentals. I am sure that had the latest news been released to the market then the share price would have been higher but I suppose we have to believe in the management knowing what they are doing; they seem to have done a pretty good job to date. Perhaps the market would have got over excited and primed the share price for a fall if they act differently, however frustrating it may be. But come on GBG, do your stuff for us hard working investors, please!. Anyone else got any thoughts?. Regards CM

The hardest part of investing in shares is knowing when to sell. If the share is making a profit the temptation is to hold out for more profit (running ones profit). If the share is falling and making a loss it is tempting to hold on believing the share will (surely) rise (no one likes taking a loss). Better times are always ahead. We tend to be a pretty optimistic bunch (on the whole). So, when do we sell?. To me it sometimes seems it is like the game Deal or No Deal. The most successful contenstants seem to be those who know when to call it a day and not push their luck to the end despite the possibility that there is more on the table, or in the box(es). The biggest failures are those who decide to go on just one more round. Those who call it a day without going the full way may be disappointed that they could have got more, but then mighty relieved when they realise that they would have ended up with far less. Of course the contestants start with nothing whereas we folk are investing our hard earned cash, so really do have something to lose. Why am I raising this?. Well, today I sold out of PEN at 66p, giving me a profit of 48% overall, and a rise of 50% in the last 2 days. I felt the rise of over 60% on Monday alone was way overdone and that a retrace was likely more than a sustained rise. As it happens, after I sold the share it fell to 65p to sell before ending the day up 2.5p. It may be a case of the round after you have dealt at gives you a higher offer. I have to be pragmaticand let it go. Any profit is good. There is a real chance that the share price will rise further especially with a dividend payable in the near future, but come ex. dividend (if not before) I still believe there is more downside to come first. Should the share fall back to the mid 50s where I believe it would be more fair value then I will think of re-investing. I am probably just airing what we all think. It applies to all shares of course, including ECK. Successful investing is sometimes selling out what appears to be too early (leaving something for others to buy) rather than selling out too late (when no one wants to buy). But......it's hard to let go at times. Oh, by the way..........looks like the kids have found their ball and cleared off.......for the time being at least. Regards CM

Think you may well be right Jamster. There is little reason for this share which had been very quiet for a long time to suddenly shoot up by as much as it did on Monday. RNS was good yes, but imo didn't justify a rise of 62%, a retrace was inevitable and it may well continue today. May take some profit here and sit back for a while. Regards CM

Have been checking my bank statement for the last hour and couldn't get it to balance until I finally found that big twit here has added his weeks pay in January in twice!, so there was £x less in the bank than I thought!!....silly old fool!. PEN, hmm, don't know what really happened there. I mean, yes, the rns was good, but not THAT good!. And where did all those posters suddenly come from?, oh dear, oh dear!. They should really be on the oily boards chasing newly struck oil fields not on PEN; I mean, it just isn't that sort of share. 17 pages of posts yesterday, talking mostly b*****ks!. Couldn't be bothered to post. GBO, well, yes, a slight retrace, but hey, no worries; look where we have been with that one, we've had plenty of retraces in the past so we should be use to it. Personally I think it is healthy and would prefer a support to be made rather than fly up like a rocket and fall back like a stone having no support level. Just need a little more consolidation and then the results at the month end to push it North again. Decided to keep GBO quiet and not mention it to the PEN brigade!!. Eyewateringly?, not a word?, it is now!. Connoisseur choccie egg, mmm, sounds good to me (says CM, salivating and wiping his lips with his sleeve........oh......I have worse habits than that!). Article from growthcompanyinvestor.co.uk today. Customer engagement specialist Netcall saw pre-tax profits rise by 46% to £1.3m on sales of £8.2m for the six months to December. Net csh stood at £8.2m while earnings per share powered ahead from 0.95p to 1.32p. The company's revenues are primarily recurring, coming from long-term contracts with customers. Margins also improved from 87% to 90%, while Netcall enthused that it won a number of contrct wins over the period including warranty provider Domestic & General and private hospital network Spire Healthcare. There were also a number of acquisitions, with enterprise content management specialist Serengeti snapped up for £2.9m last September. The group noted that its cloud based software - currently used by clients such as Louis Vuitton and Autoglass - was now being extended to apps on iPhones and Android phones. Furthermore its product development work continued, with its "Liberty" software - used by businesses for managing contacts and data - recently upgraded, something it notes will generate additional revenues for the group. Consensus forecasts are for pre-tax profits of £3.85m on sales of £16.75m for the year to June 2013. A dividend of 0.6p is also pencilled in. Recommended by Growth Company Investor last October at 28.3p, shares in Netcall have already gained over 30%. With a string of contract wins under its belt Netcall has shown itself to be a strong performer. Operating in one of the more niche areas of the technology sector, its boring range of software continues to hold considerable prospects for further growth, with a recurring revenue stream that should shield it from any disappointments. We retain our buy rating. Interesting. We need to do our own research of course, but it is always good to read articles like the above. I have found articles from GCI very useful as a starting point to any investment thoughts I may have; a number of them proving (very) profitable; but don't go on their recommendation(s) alone. Just adds more strength to the case for investing in GBG despite the retrace from 100p since November last year. Buying opportunity?, hmm, quite possibly. More upside to come I believe. Very limited funds that I want to release at present, so if I do invest more then I will have to think about selling one of or part of my other holdings. May well be worth it. Perhaps you could give me directions the next time I head South. Your decision to sell BRT to buy more into GBO is the mirror image of me selling GTC to buy more into GBO and for the same reasons. Good decision?, time will tell. Don't worry about GBO having retraced a little from its' high, it needs to establish a support level rather than continue to rise and then fall back hard having no support level; this is healthy. Come the results at the end of the month there may be another healthy rise. Unfortunately we seem to have our first out and out ramper on the GBO board; it was bound to happen but is all rather wearying. Did think about responding but not sure I can be bothered. Usual 2 line drivel stating some silly target price and telling others to get onboard whilst they have time. Twit!. Meanwhile good old ECK just walks about harmlessly, arms outstrectched infront, eyes half closed, mouth open!, bit like me first thing in the morning!. Good evening C8, good to hear from you back here. How was your trip abroad?. It's been relatively quiet on here, especially since Gardengirl moved on, although it is good to have Bigtosh with us. The trading update for GBG is sometime during the week commencing 25 March, not necessarily on that day. I am hoping there will be the same reaction in the share price as was the case with TRCS a couple of weeks ago after their update, a rise of what?, 10-15%; that would put us back up into the high 90s again. It isn't a prediction and I remain a little nervous despite the fine fundamentals. Good to see a blue day for GBG. It needs to string blue days together and change the trend that we have been seeing lately. Good luck and regards CM

Good evening BT, glad to see you are back. No need to apologise for your absence, fully understand. I am not nor have ever been married but I do know about job lists; always seem to appear at the most inconvenient time don't they!. Finding this drift lower with GBG very frustrating. Still can't see anything wrong or read anything negative. Did wonder if it may have to do with their latest acquisiton re. CRB checks etc., but don't think so having spoken to a colleague at work who knows a great deal. Looking at digitallook.com just now, I notice the forecast for year end 2013 for GBG is for revenue to be up from £31.83m to £40.78m and Pre tax profit to be up from £2.51m to £5.06m, a rise of around 28% and 101% respectively. If they are met, and the latest update said results were expected to be in line with market expectations, then I can't see that to be a reason to sell despite the immediate situation here. Could just do with this picking up now rather than from a lower base. In other circumstances I would have been on the edge of selling out, but I am keeping my nerve (as best I can), trying to learn from past experiences when I have sold out of a perfectly good company which has largely been down to sentiment at the time. I am not intending to trade shares on a short term basis, unless the story changes. A director buying 25,000 shares at 90p at the end of January should give us some confidence. I am reluctant to invest any further funds into GBG, but this could be falling into a buying opportunity if anything; not that I am inviting anyone to invest; that has to be their own personal decision based on their circumstances and the fundamentals. Good evening GG, how are you doing?, hope you have had a good mothers' day. I thought of you when I was driving North this morning on the M11 near Cambridge, wondered just how near to you I was. I would have wound down my window and waved only it was decisively cold with some snow on the ground and besides, the other motorists would probably have thought I was giving them a rude gesture. Anyway, back safe and sound after some time off work and a quick visit to my dear old mum and her 4 legged friend, still wanting me to play and rolling over on its back when I arrive; (the dog is just as bad!). So you have sold out of BRT, that didn't last long. Just holding BLNX and GBO eh, well, often it is far easier with fewer investments giving you more time to concentrate in more detail. Hopefully they will do you proud. As far as the markets go, I just don't understand them. They seem way overvalued at present, in particular the DOW and the FTSE100. Of course we have to look at the constituents of the indicies and realise the DOW is only the top 30 companies by mkt. capitalisation. Very frustrating though to see individual shares with fine fundamentals taking a back seat at present. Just concerns me that if the mkt. falls it may take our holdings with them; but we will see. I still hold GBG. It has been disappointing this year so far. I am trying to stay confident and patient. Too often I have sold out of perfectly good companies due to inpatience and some short term retracing. Had I kept my nerve and conviction then I would have been far better off. There is due to be an update by the end of the month so I am hoping that will have a positive effect. The last statement said business was ahead of where it was this time last year and trading in line with the latest mkt expectation; pretty much what TRCS said a week ago which led to a jump of around 10% in the share price over the week. Maybe the only worrying thing is that there seems to be lower highs and lower lows at present. Ideally I would not have re-invested in GBG at near 100p, but in the longer term it may work out ok. As far as you selling too soon, well, in hindsight you could argue that i suppose as we all could. Both you and I sold out of AIE too early but at the time it seemed right. No point kicking ourselves. Nothing wrong with taking some profits GG, especially when you need the funds to use elsewhere. I am sure you are far more successful than a vast majority of investors. Better selling out too soon than too late. Have confidence. As for ECK, well, I increased my holdings here around a month ago. Not very exciting, but who cares if by year end it gives me a return of between 20-30%, mustn't get greedy. Doesn't sound very inspiring I know but I can live with this one (well, at present).
