Dave, I have just done a lot of reading from the trading statement issued in December. I have looked at the figures in some depth and later in the report the risks that are associated with REDD, from economic risk, to competitive risk, legal risk etc. etc. Quite some reading. All to see if there was something there which may be a cause for the recent retrace in share price. I could find nothing specific. It ranged from an economic downturn meaning some debtors may find it harder to pay debts and may therefore seek better terms to pay off their debts and may lead to an increase in debtor days, to companies trying to set up with others to take market share, etc., but also to less miles being driven due to financial hardships and therefore less accidents. On the last point we could argue that with the low oil prices and consequently lower pump prices more miles are being driven and therefore more accidents are happening, especially with this continuous wet weather which should benefit REDD.
However, it seems that the low oil price is still driving the stock market one way and then the other and so the general market malaise is having a greater impact than could be expected. This is affecting a vast majority of companies share price, the good as well as the bad and darn right ugly!. There are similarities on share price movement with other (imo) good quality companies, which are profitable, cash generative and paying increasing dividends. These are difficult and unnerving times and hard to "keep the faith" (hate that expression) that such companies will come through these times.
I have taken my eye off REDD over the last couple of trading days and have to say I was surprised to see it trading where it is. I had a buy order on PAYS on Thursday and was surprised to see it executed after it had been a good deal higher during the day. It looks like had I had a buy order on REDD yesterday at just South of 170p that too would have been executed. I am very tempted to put a buy order on REDD for Monday especially as looking at the last trading statement it read very positive. Buying opportunity?.that is for all of us to determine for ourselves and our circumstances.
Good luck
Regards
