I thought I had bought back in yesterday at 273.6, only to find later that the transaction never went through, for whatever reason. I was sure I had pushed the buy button, but by the time I had realised it had failed the share price was back up to over 276 to buy. Not a huge difference I know, but too late in the day to take action. I dare say there will be other opportunities. Still can't work out this market; it's as though nothing ever happened re Brexit; although tell the house building stocks and banks that!. Have a good weekend folks, even if like me you have to work. Thanks for your comments BT re Red Rum. Don't worry about the daft metaphors, light humour is necessary many a time and I can take it and appreciate it. What is your dog situation incidentally?. I still try and get out training with the mtn rescue dogs although work gets in the way often. I no longer take my 4 legged friend out for such long walks since she is finding the going more tiring these days; but it doesn't mean we can't have as much fun doing things at a more gentle pace. Having a swim alongside each other followed by a pork pie and whatever takes some beating, lol!. Re GBG, well, glad to see this has held up pretty well today. I have been checking out the buy price a few times. There is a very good chance that I will re-invest; it's identifying the right time. I fear that the 2nd wave of selling the market is about to happen, particularly in some sectors. Some of the falls have been spectacular and I feel for many who have in all innocence invested in those companies that have been hit the most. You have stated before BT that you feel that the fall in the GBG share price has as much to do with investors seeing the share price stagnate and looking elsewhere and you may well be right. I am in no rush to re-invest anywhere at present, preferring to sit on the sidelines; but don't be too surprised if I suddenly jump in. Good luck all and regards CM

Well hello Andyaly, we meet up again!. I have seen you on so many boards of shares that I am begining to wonder if there any shares I have held that you haven't, lol!. Your post encourages me. The fact you sold all of your holdings - not just me then!. I have been sitting on the side lines though, watching, waiting, expecting a retrace in the general market, but it still hasn't happened, watching my previous holdings in the meantime rise above what I sold at. Such is life. Re GBG and its' share price; I think if one takes 7% off its £3 share price before the acquisition and placing which increased the no. of shares by around 7% for dillution of shares then one gets to somewhere near to where the share price is today, thereby under lining the strength of this share. Or am I being rather optimistic?. Keeping an even closer eye on GBG. The following interested me from the acquisiton RNS, from the CEO: Richard Law, GBG's CEO, commented, “I am delighted to announce our acquisition of IDscan Biometrics. GBG has followed IDscan Biometrics over the years and we have seen this business grow strongly, winning significant enterprise customers. IDscan Biometrics has a very strong team, has great products and is a great strategic and cultural fit for GBG. I am very pleased to welcome IDscan Biometrics into the GBG family of companies and myself and the Board are confident of continued success for GBG and IDscan Biometrics.” GBG has followed IDscan Biometrics over the years!. No rush buy then. Obviously it has been on the radar. From what I remember of GBG, the acquisitons they have made have worked out for them; and potentially this looks like another one. I didn't take any Jura with me in the flask Bigtosh. Probably just as well since I ended up walking a good deal further than initially intended. One of those days when I wondered if I would ever get to journeys end; it never seemed to get any nearer over the last hour or so, it always looked just 20 minutes away!. Good training though. Met up with an acquaintance I haven't seen for years who I use to train with with search dogs. BT - re Red Rum, well, unfortunately she seems confined to the stables these days and sees jumps where there are no jumps. It's all rather sad. I made an extra trip South last weekend. I don't want to have any regrets and needed to see how she was doing with my own eyes and not just my ears. Glad to say she picked up. Regards all CM

Good morning BT, hope you enjoyed your Jura. Hmm, what to make of the market, I just don't know. Sitting on cash and getting withdrawal symptoms. Diffficult battle going on between my head and my heart. The first says sit tight, the second seeing how things have gone this mid week says buy. What to do?. GBG is back on my radar, but part of me says why buy back in at twice or nearly twice the price you sold out at?. Another part says if I hadn't known about GBG beforehand, would I be thinking of buying in, especially after the acquisition, placing?. Sometimes the past can get in the way. GBG does seem to battle its' way through the darkness. Day off today and intend to be out in the fells so need to get things sorted?. Perhaps I should take Jura in my flask rather than tea!. RNS today states Barclays suggest overweight with price target of 560p!, make of that what you will. Personally I am out of the market at present, awaiting clearer signs of what the market will do. Nothing has changed drastically since the Brexit vote despite the sell off and subsequent rally, which I can't see is sustainable for long. I have missed the chance of buying on the dip, my nerves wouldn't stand it and although frustrated to be out of the market, you can bet should I re-enter right now that will be the sign for the next leg down, so I will do you a favour and stay out for ? long. Poorperson - totally agree with you. INL remains on my watchlist despite selling out in February at around 77p. The positive from all this EU referendum mark down is that it will throw up buying opportunities in due course, here, and elsewhere. I believe come referndum day, many undecided voters will vote for the devil they know and some will change their mind once the reality of what it means putting their cross in the box will mean. Easy to say what we will do before hand but come the day..................... Good luck all CM

Good evening all. GBG has fallen by over 15% since its high of 330p in less than two weeks. Crazy. Maybe it was due some retrace but it is apparent that even companies like GBG, which has never disappointed in the years I have followed it, have been clobbered by the general market malaise of late. I suppose it throws up, will throw up buying opportunites at prices we wouldn't have thought we would see just a short time ago, although there may yet be more downward movement first. I guess all of us have had the value of our investments hit this past week so I hope none on here have been hit too badly. It's difficult to hold ones nerves at such times. I am hoping that when the referendum is over that the fat lady has sung a song we want to hear!. Maybe the song can be accompanied with a good Jura; or a cider for me!. Regards CM

Well, the result of the referendum is far from certain and isn't over until the fat lady sings. At present she is just warming up. I am not sure I like the tune she is warming up with, but perhaps it is not the song she will sing come the day. I tend to agree with many people voting on the day for the devil they know and that some will change their mind come the time they have to put their cross in the box. Easy to say we will do one thing only to reflect at the moment of decision and changing our mind. This is all playing very nicely into the market makers hands though isn't it. There are many excellent companies getting clobbered at this time and there is likely to be more downward movement yet. Many have fallen by a greater % than PAYS. Not easy times for sure. Hello BT, how's things?, hope all is going well. Good to see GBG is performing so well. Indeed far better than a vast majority of shares, especially over the last couple of months or so. I am taking a far lower profile these days. I feel it is benefiting me as too much of my time was taken up researching shares and getting pretty hung up by daily movements and probably over studying things. I think if we look hard enough we can all find "devils in the doorknobs" when in reality it tends to be just an over reaction to what is going on. I am trading far less often and at present very reluctant to invest anything more until the referendum is over. Thankfully I have my 4 wheels back now BT, and make another trip South to see Red Rum back end of this week. Unfortunately she has had a couple of falls and a few refusals recently so her confidence is low. I hope she may pick up a bit with my visit. She hits the big 90 Monday next week. Bezz - you are going to have to remind me about the bike trip South. I expect I posted something in the distant past which hopefully won't prove too embarrasing. Trying to remember where you are located, was it Hampshire or Dorset or alike?. Hope all investments are going strongly. Regards and good luck all CM

Some very good and interesting comments. I tend to agree with most of what is posted but do not see that the EU referendum is priced in to any share at present., just a drip, drip, drip of value being lost. There is over a month to go to refendum day, plenty of time for the market makers to make hay over the uncertainty. I can see a vast majority of shares losing ground beforehand, many unjustly. I see the leave voters largely concentrating on their emotions and believing that voting to leave will have a major effect on immigration. Many will be voting with the mentality of lets hit those foreigners who only come over here to steal our jobs and blame them for most if not all of their woes. The fact that I have only had one pay rise in the last 5 years has nothing to do with immigration and everything to do with the fact that my employer can get away with not paying me anymore because I am paid more than the minimum wage (just). If I don't like it then I can leave and look for something else., (and there is little around). Afraid to say that that is all to common with employers these days. Living in Cumbria, I believe immigration is far less an issue than it is elsewhere in the country. Additionally, I have read an article that around 74% of Scots will be voting to remain in the EU. That may be enough to effect the overall vote. Come refendum day, I believe that the most likely result is a vote to stay in. Those undecided are more likely to vote for the devil they know rather than the devil they don't know. What folk say on how they will vote at any election is often very different to what they actually do on the day when the reality of it all kicks in - hence why so many polls are wrong. However, before then a lot of damage may be done to share values. So, it may be a case of reducing holdings beforehand to buy back in after. Good luck all, we will need it!. BJ, I hope that your movement of your investment from REDDE elsewhere works out for you. It is your preogative of course to do what you want to do, but to jump from a company making increasing profits and paying an increasing dividend with Woodford as a major shareholder into a more speculative loss making company takes some courage. All shares have a period when their share price retraces, even the best. No, of course I would be happier had the share price been higher than when I invested at 170p, but it is bearable. The general market has drifted sideways for a while and I tend to agree with PurplePenguns' view. Alicein1 - it amazes me that you should still be holding shares here with all your negative views. It seems to me you would be better off taking your money off the table and investing elsewhere. But, good luck to you. CM

This constant reference to directorships is now getting rather boring and I am not sure of its relevance.. If Avril whatever her name is has a directorship in 42 companies then I dare to suggest that she will be too busy with the other 41 to have enough time to cock things up with REDDE. I doubt very much that she is the reason, or even possibly one reason why the share price has not performed as we would have wished recently. She is not alone in being a director of numerous companies all at the same time. Would we be having this discussion if the share price was rising?, I doubt it. I could see nothing within the last trading report (repeating myself here), that was particularly worrying or would lead to a sell off. Much more likely to do with the fact that REDDE has had a good run, growth is likely to be slower as it matures and the state of the market. I may be wrong, but I have seen other holdings of mine do exactly the same and yet over time recover and push new highs; after I have sold out of them usually. For someone who allegedly holds shares in REDDE, you do seem to be looking for reasons to be negative Alicein1. If I felt like you I would probably have sold out and look to invest elsewhere or await better times. Perhaps we could move the discussion on before folk start to get personal. Regards CM

"Whoever it is probably needs counselling" - well, i guess they are looking longer term re their investment rather than what has happened over less than a week. We all know that no share goes up in a straight line and there will be times when there will be retraces. I could see nothing negative in REDDE's latest update. Time will tell and whether or not the budget on Wednesday will have any affect on the share price. Just wonder if the Chancellor will raise the issue of whiplash injuries etc again as he did in his Autumn statement which had a temporary but dramatic affect on the share price and led to a RNS. CM

Thanks for your post.. It is not stock specific and could apply to many stocks and not necessarily REDDE. It may have to do with the changes in the FTSE indicies as from 24 March, when stocks are relegated and promoted from and into certain indicies. I believe funds are obliged to follow these indicies which is why it is often a good idea to buy into or sell out of certain stocks before hand (but I may be wrong). Omedome - this may well bounce back. I have just read through the latest trading statement and can see nothing within which is of undue concern. It seemed pretty positive to me, so this may well be a matter of having to sit this fall through; unless someone knows something we don't. Regards CM

Anyone any ideas as to the fall today?. Any thoughts that it may be related to the budget coming up and the Chancellor raising the issue of small claims and whip lash injuries again as he did in the Autumn Budget?. There was a RNS issued at the end of November outlining Redde's position on this should this be the case. Could it be investors selling after the dividend?. Or does someone else have any ideas?. Good evening BT good to hear from you. Yes, I think GBG has done remarkably well during the recent turmoil on the markets. It either shows strength and/or the ability to stay off the radar for those nasty market makers who are/have been looking to give almost anything a good kicking regardless of whether or not they deserve it. Sometimes it is a good thing to be unloved or rather unnoticed!. I am sure there are bargains out there, and probably more than GBG. However, stability and a good nights sleep is increasingly important as we "mature" imo and experience. If you have a good hand of cards why "twist" and risk what you have. Boring?, well maybe, but I would rather have boring than exciting and heart in my mouth - sounds more like gambling to me. I have reduced the number of holdings I have from around 6 or more to just 3 (for the time being at any rate). I really need to have more peace. Some of the money released will go towards the repair bill for my car which is ill and at the doctors!, awaiting a prognosis. It died on me on the way home from search dog training on Thursday night, leaving me stranded some 20 miles from home. Thankfully I am a member of the RAC, so I did eventually get home. Otherwise it would have been a nightmare!. Meantime, I have my trusty bike to get me to work and back this next week (20 miles + each way), but hey, the days are drawing out. Very good reply PH. Could not agree more. Age does have its benefits, not many granted, but a few. I have become far more risk averse. Being able to sleep at nights has huge advantages over those dreaded nights of tossing and turning over worries over those more high risk, and often nil return, investments of past years; not that any investment is risk free of course. I have to be content with the possibility, even probability of missing out on some high flying shares and keep my sanity, or at least, what is left of it. I am sure the playing field is less level than in the past. Maybe that is down to the ease of how we can invest these internet days, when we do not have to phone a broker, ask their advice, pay their huge fees and only be able to get company information from the written press, either daily briefs in the national papers, or from the likes of Investors Chronicle. I believe it makes us far more gullible to the games the market plays, and don't they know it. Although it is easier to do our own research I think it has led to in a strange way, many to become far more lazy in that research by cutting corners, searching for like minded opinions and reading what they want to read rather than between the lines of any report or contrary opinions. I tend to agree with your comment that the stock market nowadays is just plain stupid. I think it has become increasingly difficult to be able to read it. Over reaction seems to be the norm and the market makers play on it, encourage it and initiate it. At times fundamentals go out of the window. We can do all the research we possibly can using the best resources, yet even then something happens somewhere which has a disproportionate affect on our investment - bit like a butterfly flappping its wings on one side of the world causes havoc elsewhere - chaos theroy. Numerous times I have felt like throwing my hands up in the air in despair and packing it all in. However, with the greatest respect, unlike you (although of similar age) I am most definitely not financially set up. I am well aware of the risks involved in investing in shares yet that seems my best opportunity in the present low interest rate era to try and grow my capital. But as you rightly say, the stock market has seemingly become more like a casino. A casino where the rules are decided by the market for the market and where we hope we can ride a wave rather than be in the path of the wave. Holding ones nerves at such time isn't easy. Regards CM
