Good evening BT. Thanks for the post; always good to hear from you.
Well, I trust you got the dead bird in a box, lol. Oh the joys of Christmas!. I keep telling folk at work Christmas was 12 months ago, why all the fuss?!. Usual situation, don't think about it until 1 December, then postpone thinking of it again for 2 weeks, then realise, oh blimey, guess I ought to do something about it quickly and not leave it to last minute panic. No bird for me, may have salmon, or being on my own this year I may just resort to egg on toast!. Humbug?, no, I have a bottle of Glayva to crack open. Did think about a Jura, but would like to taste it first before making a decision. Actually, not sure egg on toast and Glayva go together, but there is always a first time.
Weather here in Cumbria has on the whole been truly awful BT. Today has been a rare day of a good amount of sunshine and with it being my day off I took advantage and got out to enjoy it. Need to make the most of it because tomorrow it is forecast to rain again before Boxing Day sees a return to rain, gales and floods. I am fortunate enough not to be directly affected at home by the flooding, although a friend of mine in Keswick has been flooded out again. Driving to Ambleside, where I work, took 1.5 hrs on Tuesday, rather than the usual 45 minutes due to the flooding. I wonder if we can buy shares in the weather?.
Yes, GBG has done amazingly well this year. Not surprised at the retrace. Well done for sticking to your guns. There are a couple of trading days left to the year. I am hoping my present holdings may all be in profit come year end although it may be a close call for a couple of them. I agree with your view of the overall market in the UK and the USA being in pretty much fine health. Interest rates will be an issue I am sure this next year. It is a strange situation when the market panics at the thought that interest rates may go up despite it being a sign of a strong economy and panics that they may not go up because maybe the economy isn't as strong as they thought!. Bit of a no win situation. Personally I think it is deliberate to try and create a market where investors are wanting to buy and sell at the same time, after all a quiet market is absolutely no good for the market makers, although it may do our mental health a lot of good. I think what may cause most volatility in our market is the issue over our membership or not of the EU. I think many folk will not think of the bigger picture and may vote with their emotions, which like investing, is not necessarily a good idea. And then of course there is the "unknown unknown", the something which comes out of the blue which none of us can foresee. Oh glory!. Am I getting too old for this BT?.
Well time is getting on my friend and if I don't get to bed now, then SC won't call!.
I truly hope you and your family have a great Christmas and New Year.
Regards
