We'll know within the next 7 working days whether a bid has been tabled. Sidara need to put up or shut up by 5pm a week on Monday (24th). I'd expect Deloitte to complete their review within the next week and see an uplift of sorts then.

Gold ‘to hit record high’ after Trump market chaos

Gold is predicted to soar to record highs later this year amid the turmoil caused by Donald Trump’s tariff war.

Bullion could jump to an unprecedented $3,500 an ounce during the third quarter, according to analysts at Macquarie Group, as investors take flight to safe-haven assets.

The precious metal was trading at about $2,940 an ounce today but Macquarie said it could average $3,150 an ounce between July and September.

Gold climbed to within $10 of its record high in overnight trading and has risen by 12pc this year as President Trump wages a global trade war which has triggered retaliatory measures by China, the EU and Canada.

There are also fears that the US is on course for a federal shutdown after Democrats in the Senate failed to agree to a stop-gap funding bill on Wednesday.

Macquarie analysts said: “We view gold’s price strength to date, and our expectation for it to continue, as primarily being driven by investors’ and official institutions’ greater willingness to pay for its lack of credit or counterparty risk.”

A 1000% increase is fine, but without any numbers it's meaningless.

How much do they sell a ton of salt for?

How much of that is profit?

how much goes to the bottom line?

These are THE most basic questions that need to be answered to enable a value to be placed on SALT.

Frankly we're either massively overpriced or underpriced, but only the management will know!!

Frankly, it's uninvestable at the moment without more detailed numbers.

Shame really, because I think it's a good product.

Everyone should read this carefully. Taken from the latest trading update of 14th Feb 25:

"Independent review ('Review')

· The Review is continuing and Deloitte's work and assessment will need to be complete before any conclusions can be reached. However, significant work has been undertaken and based on that:

o The Company does not expect that the findings of the Review will have a material impact on the Group's cash position or its ability to generate cash in the future"

My conclusion: WOOD GROUP IS A GOING CONCERN.

Now just need Deloitte and Sidara to do their things...!

I agree, risks remain. However, WG have grasped the nettle and dealing with difficult legacy & debt issues openly & transparently. They reckon the review will have 'no material impact', as alluded to by an earlier poster & stated in the latest RNS.

I firmly believe that on conclusion of the review we'll see a decent re-rate, followed by a pause, then depending on what Sidara do, we'll either be bid for or float around the 70p area.

I don't think we'll go lower, and believe there's money to be made here short term.

Additionally, the conclusion of the Deloitte review, if favourable & no issues found, will push the sp back over 70p (where it was before the review started), then you're no longer looking at a x3 or x4 bid.

A few points to note:

1. Wood is not distressed.

2. It's winning contracts.

3. It has a £6.2BILLION order book.

4. It has 18 months breathing space to re-finance its debt.

5. It's more than halfway through its restructuring.

6. It's got rid of its lumpy one off contracts in favour of repeat revenue contracts.

7. It's selling off areas surplus to requirements & realising gains.

8. It's currently being bid for - cash offer.

9. and finally, do you honestly think the 70%+ of institutional shareholders will accept a bad offer?

Isle, with all due respect - that's utter nonsense.

If Wood are happy for Sidara to bid, then they'll grant access as necessary for DD to happen. The Deloitte review isn't anything to do with the bid, it's a housekeeping exercise & review of their finances. Perfectly legal to share the findings. Also, how can you 'not' let Sidara view all areas if they intend to buy the company??? That makes no sense either. You wouldn't buy a car if the seller put a cover over it and only let you look at the wheels, would you? If so, I've got a rust bucket to sell you...

Sidara will want to see the full results of the Deloitte review as part of the deal. They won't want to find anything nasty hiding in the cupboard.

The latest trading update said that Deloitte had completed a significant amount of work - that was 4 weeks ago - so I expect an update from the review soon. I expect a quick offer if Wood's given a clean bill of health.

I still think the offer will be in the 125p - 175p range.

I suspect we may get an offer this week. Sintara want to keep the technical staff on board, and the longer this drags on, the more will jump ship.

If the offers any good I'd expect the institutional sharreholders to back it, regardless of what the CEO & Board think.

Personally I think the CEO & Board are out, whatever the outcome.

I'm thinking £1.25 - £1.75 range.

My opinion.

Interim results of £0.2m revenue for first 6 months. Assuming another £0.2m for the last 6 months, we're currently valued at over 80 times revenue!!?

Does anyone know how much they're selling a metric ton of salt for? Or the profit margin per ton?

It's impossible to value this. It could be massively over valued, it could be fair value, or it could be seriously undervalued. right now I think it's the former, based on the numbers.

How big is the market for Microsalt? Massive, I would guess, but without an idea of profitability this is investing 'blind'.

I think it has a future, but I just can't commit at 75p a share when it may only be worth 7.5p a share (or £7.50!!). Looks like I'll need to wait out for more clarity. Shame, it seems like such a good product :(

Thanks for the responses guys. Makes sense if it's being fast-tracked to production. Also with Trumps talk about REM's, I suppose most decent mining opportunities are in play right now.

Ah well, hopefully it won't go too high before I can accumulate a sizeable holding here. I only hope Wood Group get a decent offer so I can jump ship and load up here quickly :)
