I think Sidara are 'testing the water' to guage shareholder reaction. If there's strong pushback from institutional shareholders they'll have to increase the offer or risk being locked out for 6 months. That gives Wood time to re-finance, or for an opportunistic bidder to swoop in.

Gold rose to a fresh record as Donald Trump’s tariffs raised fears the US is heading for a recession.

Bullion rose as much as 1.3pc above $3,200 an ounce as investors sought out the metal, which is considered a safe-haven asset in times of turmoil.

It is on track for a weekly gain of nearly 6pc as investors shun the dollar, a typical safe haven, amid concerns about the US economy.

The Federal Reserve is expected to make at least three interest rate cuts this year, further sapping the US currency’s appeal.

Dominic Schnider of UBS Global Wealth Management told Bloomberg Television: “We remain quite positive for gold.

“The next step is going to be, at some point, the Fed coming in — and that gives the next leg up for gold.”

A couple of points for you:

1. You say you cannot have the 'magical ability' to see into the future, then go on to predict $5000oz.............

2. Again, you said I cannot say whether it will go up x5 or x10. Then state EXACTLY THAT yourself further down?

3. I NEVER said £1 isn't possible, not once. I said it won't hit £1 "anytime soon". HUGE difference.....

Your long post is hugely contradictory. I could go on, but what's the point?

My figures are based on KNOWN FACTS. Your post says we 'could' have x millions of oz, we 'could' have $5000/oz. But we haven't, have we? We have ground, a mill, assets, 10.2moz au @ $3000/oz less AISC, and some copper. My numbers are based on the KNOWN facts. And like facts, when they change, I change my valuation.

Let's be honest, by your way of thinking "IF" gold hits a billion dollars an ounce, we'll all be trillionaires.

For those on here who know me, they know I stay grounded in the KNOWN facts ... It's far too easy to get carried away with "what ifs" on here.

Finally, as you said "we could easily be" a 1moz producer. But right now - we're not.

I always find my posts create disruption and ire from the get rich quick merchants, the dreamers and the clueless. And no, that wasn't aimed at you so please don't take offence.

I've been consistently clear from day one - Greatland is a fantastic long term investment for the patient investor, just don't expect to cash in all the gold day one.

Hi speedie. Yes, I think 40p is feasible in the near term (within the next 2 years). Off the top of my head that'd be a P/E of about 8. Obviously we'd all love to see £1, but my personal view is that's 10 years away, unless something significant changes.

Not sure what's worse; their man-child or our Marxist.....

As investors, Rachael from Accounts is our biggest threat...

No. I said it won't get to £1 "any time soon". Believe it or not, the resources of GGP are worth WELL NORTH of £1, but not in the share price, if that makes sense? You can have all the gold in the world, but if it's stuck in the ground it's worth practically zero - you need to dig it out, at a cost. Only when the gold hits physical sunlight does it magically turn in into $3000/oz (because you can now sell it), and as we have a 20 year mine life, that process of converting it to money is a slow and deliberate one. So yes, you can value the first gold out far more highly than the last bit of gold (that won't be coming out the ground for another 20 years). That's why you have P/E ratios.

That's why it won't hit £1 any time soon. Of course things change - additional resources, discovery of another Havieron, takeovers. But right now, it's a sub 1/2m oz p.a. producer.

But it's still a cracking investment, short, medium & long term. Possibly even one for the grandchildren.

And yes, I'm still accumulating.

Thanks for the aggressive /abusive post, it was gratefully received...... I have a few points for you:

Firstly, I'm most definitely not 'a tool'. You don't know me, thankfully.

Secondly, back in the day, several years ago, I clearly laid out my calculations when GGP was at 38p. It subsequently drifted all the way down and ended up sub 10p. Why? Because that was the REAL VALUE of GGP. So I was not only proved 100% correct, but I also had the honesty to explain my reasoning WITH calculations for all pi's on this board to see.

Thirdly, you've challenged my reasoning, so please, show everyone on this board YOUR calculations for when and how GGP will hit £1. I can't wait to find out what you know, that the rest of us don't....

To get to your £1, start with the 13.089 BILLION shares in issue and the 10.2Moz/au. Oh, and don't forget the copper. I'm waiting...

Unless you take practically all the known gold & copper out and sell it - TODAY.

So newbies, please stop spouting utter nonsense. We had this back in the day when we owned 30% of Hav, and the 38p brigade were shouting similar such nonsense. I told them the same back then - it was worth 20.69p with all the gold out on day one. I got serious abuse for that. Why? They were deluded/greedy.

Now we own 100%, with increased resources/reserves, increased gold/copper prices, additional mining opportunities (Telfer), and the plant. Therefore that number has increased exponentially, but you won't be getting £1 anytime soon.

Hint: Work the numbers and divide by the mine life. Then multiply by an average P/E.

Far too many dreamers on here now. Though I must say, I like your optimism :)

Wg is a perfectly viable business. It's just the management that are crap.

WG has £6+billlions in forward contracts and another 18 months before it needs to refinance its debts.

Deal or no deal, WG is perfectly safe imo.
