From the Telegraph: “ A surge in electric vehicle demand within the next three years will require the UK to launch its first full-scale gigafactory for battery production, according to the boss of a research institute backed by the government.

Neil Morris, chief executive of the Harwell-based Faraday Institution, believes an accelerated demand for electric vehicles through to 2023 means the UK will need to secure investment for a first of its kind 15GWh gigafactory to ensure a steady supply of batteries in the future.”

Errr.... Gangfeng offers the extra required project funding in return for controlling equity share? Millions of new shares issued, PIs diluted to a fraction of today’s value? Surely you can see what’s coming? Raising project finance from the open market will be more difficult than the last failed attempt as Lithium prices have fallen further. Where else is the money going to come from?

That is exactly what I am saying!

The unpleasant fact Roger is that Gangfeng are only interested in the lithium not the share price as they will never sell. Once they have control existing private shareholders can be diluted to an almost meaningless value. I can’t see any upside from here unless you have complete trust in Ganfeng to look after PI’s interests as well as their own?
