In the interests of managing risk to ones investment with SAV, I feel its worth keeping a watch on Vulcan Energy. Based in Germany, close to VW’s ID production, they are offering to fulfill VW’s requirement for zero-carbon footprint not only in EV manufacture but it’s supply chain.
They are offering “ Zero Carbon Lithium® hydroxide, by harnessing renewable geothermal energy to drive lithium production, without using evaporation, mining or fossil fuels.”

Cut out the middleman and buy direct from the Royal Mint. I find they usually have better stock and therefore shorter delivery times.

Great news indeed! Our ability to export outside the EU may depend on whether SAV receives EU funding and a binding EU offtake deal? Also British Volt may decide it doesn’t care how green the lithium supply is and simply import from China? However it’s great news for the U.K. either way!

The only person delivering on Xmas Eve will be sporting a beard and a red coat but is unlikely to be DA. I’ve spent too many Xmas’ past expecting good tidings from SAV only to receive a “Bah humbug”!

The recent rise was built on the Guardian article and more positive sentiment for lithium in Europe. Also the hope that DA is making progress even if he’s not telling us exactly what it is or when it will materialise. Backgrounds of VWs can be read as a nudge, nudge, wink,wink at a deal that we hope will be signed. The EIA has to be approved as well.
If both happen, this will fly further, if not, the folk who bought in of late are unlikely to be as patient as we long-termers? Personally I think we can hold this level at least to the New Year, after that, we may lose some altitude.

Note the focus on the importance of battery recycling. SAV needs a partnership with battery maker and recycler Northvolt (VW partner).

Not sure the Portuguese government has the political capital to risk the nuclear option? If they are not careful , hesitation may mean they may be overtaken by more determined rivals. It is however followed by this statement “ In the law that is in force, exploration is authorized after the concessionaire delivers an Environmental Impact Study that merits a favorable Environmental Impact Statement by the environmental authorities. And that obligation is maintained in the decree-law that will regulate the exploitation of natural resources that is yet to be promulgated by the President of the Republic.”

I read that as saying we are entitled to continue exploration once a favourable EIS has been issued by the Portuguese authorities?

I haven’t seen any misinformation, just people highlighting the strategic review by the Portuguese government and questioning what the implications were.
I listened to the interview and what I heard was that there is no change to SAV’s EIA process and there is “no evidence to the contrary” to say that it will change. Well I’m glad he said that but what I was hoping for was a more definitive statement that the strategic review by would not impede or delay approval of the EIA. I hope it doesn’t delay approval but I won’t be surprised if it does. You can dismiss the possibility of course but I won’t be doing that. I will remain invested having halved my holding to reduce the risk. If we are still without an approved EIA together with an offtake agreement in 12 months I will be out.

That’s irrelevant. The fact is that he has other business interests which have negatively impacted his liquidity causing him to sell shares in the company he is paid to manage. This raises the question of how sound his personal finances are, what further calls there may be on his holdings, and what impact this may have on confidence. At best it’s a bit misjudged in my view.

Er, yes but the point is that this is a business interest DA has which was not previously disclosed but clearly has an impact on his focus on SAV and his personal liquidity. It is an unwelcome distraction when he is paid extremely well to be a full-time CEO of SAV.

I would like to believe that the news that the Portuguese government had been pushed into a strategic review of lithium mining by minority MPs and our CEO selling shares are unrelated. However I am still waiting for a comment from our board on any impact to progress for SAV, hopefully none. Added to that, David Archer holds no directorships in hotel chains that I can find but clearly has eyes on other businesses that we were previously unaware of which is a tad disconcerting. It’s never a good look for a CEO to sell shares and I’m surprised that buyers have jumped in at this stage to hold the price up when so much is uncertain.
