Like I said a few days ago, sometimes businesses benefit (and need) forced cost cutting as people get a bit too comfortable when things are good. Trim the staff back and get rid of the clowns, replace managers in underperforming stores, more incentives to drive sales, more upselling etc. I have worked in jobs before where things are good, nobody is looking at numbers and everyone is so comfortable they’re chatting, taking longer lunch breaks, nipping out for cigarettes, even doing a bit of shopping during work hours. Soon changes when cuts are on the cards.
