Big spike in VOD a minute ago not sure why - any ideas ?

Government has to go through this tender process otherwise they will be accused of protectionism - when all has been said and done to award a contract of this significance to an American company would imo be an outrage at a time when the UK has to promote its Premier companies in order to facilitate growth- would a British company be awarded a contract of this significance in the US against an American company, I think not

Macro economic news not particularly good this morning - this will ultimately affect all shares - NEX just being walked down along with other transport stocks - unless you are trading or HAVE to sell then I wouldn't worry about it - I invest and hold on a 1-3 year basis - looking at the share price everyday will drive you crazy - a review every couple of weeks is sufficient if you are a long term investor - gla dyor etc

I have to say the position I took here at 140p on the 29th March is now starting to look good - took a bit off the table in profit yesterday but keeping the rest for results day in a couple of weeks - it was trading at 232p just before the profit warning shock on the 10th Jan - no reason it cannot return to that level on a divi resumption and as Mary points out, there is always the back up of a bid if the price gets silly

Bus travel is here for the foreseeable - not just in the UK in the whole world as countries strive to meet emmission targets - will the people who have given up rail travel to use buses go back to rail travel? - can't see it myself, why would you when the buses are cheaper and run on time - this share is going to take off soon as brokers upgrade, and inflation and fuel continue their decline - the pound is still very weak historically against other currencies and at this price Private Equity must be circling

I think the shorters were expecting the strikes to derail future earnings but this is clearly not the case, - should go north, having said that the inflation figures this morning were ugly, missing analysts estimates on the high side which will not be good for UK shares in general - lets see

Primetime - "Can not work out what is happening here" - no hard fact news imo - EZJ HAD concrete news this morning and this reflected in the share price immediately - sentiment will only drive a share so far - there may be something positive in the agm, in the meantime I will just keep adding here and reinvest the dividend - transport stocks massively undervalued imo, some at Covid levels - I like you am invested in IAG, and NEX and I am happy to wait it out for as long as it takes - it paid off for me with RR and it will pay off here also in the long term

This is reminding more and more of the print strike back in the 80's which ended up with 6,000 employees being sacked - the Unions fought tooth and nail to stop modernisation but to no avail - Maggie put in legislation allowing unions to be "de-recognised" - this is much the same as the current government which are putting legislation in place to the detrement of the union movements in general - the writing is on the wall for the postal workers as it was for the print workers, the only person that seems to be oblivious to this is daft Dave Ward, king of the lemmings, prowling around like a pantomime villian, leading his commrades into the abyss, whilst holding onto his salary, around 5x that of the average

Gladstone the only short above 0.5pct as far as I can see and they are taking a mighty beating since opening their start position on the 22nd March - plenty of funds to close there to fuel a further rise north - bring it on

CPI figures out in the states at 130pm - with inflation being everything for everybody in the market right now, I suspect this will drive where NEX goes along with most other UK stocks - the FTSE/UK MID 250 ETC are the Dow's ***** at the end of the day - lets see

Noted re GLG primetime - the point I am trying to make is the overall short positions have reduced by over a percentage point in two weeks - these reductions are now in effect long positions - the very same thing happened at RR. which I also hold - nobody wants to miss out on a recovery stock - even short sellers

Would agree here Chilting - retail has done well over the bank holiday - I think MKS results in May are going to be spectacular and the dividend will return imo - it HAS to in order to confirm confidence in future trading - this is what I am looking for and I think what the market will be looking for - gl dyor etc

Shorts now down to 1.76pct having been at 2.8pct on the 22/03 - GLG are underwater having started their short at 117.5p - see below - that is a lot of shares being bought back and still plenty to go - I said on here a few weeks ago that NEX would tick up pre divi as II's allocated funds into dividend yielding stocks with growth potential as a hedge against a possible recession - 5p on 125p is around a 4pct yield - follow the money
