agreed slift... I am due to buy a new vehicle and it wont be electric. it would be too difficult to charge - little chance of parking directly outside and the two charging points at the top of my road are usually occupied. totally unrealistic.

my other objection is that greta doesnt seem to interested in going and pestering china/india /russia - i dont think she would get out alive.

I have no idea if BP would be interested in hur. .. I suspect any companies with ties to the new board are more likely to lead to a sale. Companies that were interested in the past but turned away over price might also want to reconsider now that the market cap is 90% down.

However BP have clearly said today that they will not explore any new countries and that they want to reduce their carbon footprint.
Well HUR fits in nicely with that. Local oil has does not require the same transportation (and amounts of CO2) that oil from countries would. There is also the political stability etc. I think if this year has shown anything is the need for countries to reconsider their dependency on other countries for all sorts of things

personally whilst it is very virtue signalling to announce cut down on fossil fuels etc in the current climate - i am not convinced by the reality. for example I suspect the focus on cutting down on personal flights which sounded great a year ago to many - now that they have tasted the reality - will the appetite be the same?

genghis - i suspect they would have also included NPVs of Reserves at Base Price with 10% discount (1p and 2p come to £800m)

the thing is the spirit deal was considered not great at the time - in hindsight it was a good one with the poor results. Personally i wrote it off after the results - whilst in one way it will show confidence if spirit stay and proceed - i just hope it doesnt get distracting as i think well 8 or exploring halifax much better goals in my view.

the balance sheet gives an indication the value that hur give lancaster - ovbiously need to be oil price adjusted. Also dos not mean that a suitor would offer that. it is a shame that halifax is attributed with little value at the moment as this is the big one. it would have been so much better if they had explored this rather than GWA - but i suspect trice always wanted that one for himself - selling lincoln and lancaster to get there. however the poor results at gwa and water/interference issues at lancaster may have put that well and truly on the back burner.

the hope is that the data collated will reinforce ffd for lancaster and encourage halifax exploration

slift - i agree with you on a moderate upside at the moment. I also agree that these research note valuations are to be taken with a huge pinch of salt. This one unlike the edison one does not seem to be paid for by HUR but even so.

I am not sure well 7 will be a write off in the near future - not if the water cut has stabilised. it would be great if it starts draining down and the water cut starts decreasing. if it doesnt all the more reason to either sidetrack or well 8 in my view. personally i think well 8 would be a better option but then there is the cost.

i dont see hur priced to go bust either. however i think september will be key to see how they plan to move on and what the ambitions of the new board are. so far they have done what they said they would do and we are certainly in a better place than before - regardless of what the SP says.

still think hur will be sold on as soon as a reasonable offer comes along. The question is how shiny do the board want to make hur

I agree the hedge seems like good insurance. though personally i think oil price will be propped up again if need be...cheap oil isnt going to do any of the big players good in the long run. they are going to need all the cash they can get.

the hedge was a good move and should have been done previously. whoever did the risk assessment on that failed a bit there in my book. it is not as if hur sp hadnt already severely suffered at the hands of oil price in the past..

lets hope if there is any second wave - that lessons have been learnt. or it will be a grim winter.

20p- i suppose you could argue that case on the last balance sheet - however SP is often determined more by sentiment and that is currently not in hur's favour at the moment. i think in september with a plan going forward sentiment hopefully will return . in that case 9-12p would be a good result in my book.

i am not a fan of charts for a number of reasons - however i think it is always worth considering resistance / support points

on a personal observation 6.4p ish seems to be a bit of a sticking point as other have commented.

my thought on hur this morning - was whether we would get an RNS before September 11th. going to be an interesting month.

levs - if that was directed at me. Yes you are probably right. The thing is I like to invest in shares that i have done a bit of research on - follow the SP closely to get a feel for the movement - and that I feel there is a disconnect between market capital and my perceived value. Hur fits that for me.

iron - the SP could get there with time - depending on forward plans./ takeover (rumour or fact)

Quite honestly i have given up trying to predict HUR price....i honestly though we would be at 7p at least with that rns. I think astaris increasing their short might have been behind the price movement on monday. something certainly killed the momentum....

i purchased just under £20k this morning as a trade - i think there is some mileage down here.

jadam - i agree that is one way of looking at it - a large spread is there to deter buyers so therefore buy. i do consider this too..However when the buys slow down there is often sells coming and the price can drop -

thats why i said i look at trend as well - i tend to study the movement of the SP to try and time it right for my trading pot - I have a large investment pot that just sits there.... I have a pretty good hit rate - unfortunately I have been caught out by the odd unexpected RNS like Trice leaving !

jadam - personally i try to buy when the spread is closer ( also looking at the trend ) - i am sure i am not the only one.

iron neck - that is the problem with a large spread - it could potentially stop buyers as they will immediately be a larger percentage down - and this has to recovered before they are break even let alone in profit.

you are right that the stock market does not notify whether it is a buy or sell - there should be a transparency for all - but again the house stacks the cards.

from my understanding the Market makers do have to make a market and provide liquidity so they will hold some stock temporarily at times - however they try to balance the books every day. this is why they dont like volatility and would prefer a large volume of sales with no SP movement. hence they use tactics of varying the spread etc. to encourage or discourage buyers.

i think that the contingent resources are likely to be downgraded - but that has well and truly been priced in. currently no value is given to them...whirlwind and strathcyde have been relinquished. GWA had poor results and I think will take a hit.

however i am expecting contingent resources at lancaster to go up. if they have plans on lincoln then reserves will go up..

since start we have produced a lot of oil - and will be producing a lot more.

stu - whilst i agree that there are a lot of rubbish MM conspiracies. They can manipulate a share price fairly easily by the spread. make it large enough and it will stop people buying. no one wants a holding to be straight away worth significantly less than what you paid. the MMs dont like volatility - so dont want massive up and downs as they make their money on sales volume. massive swings can lead them exposed one way or the other. I also suspect they will help larger regular clients in and out easier.

This share had some momentum this morning- and now stationery? do you not think that might have been controlled?

also the whole buy/sell disguise acts in their favour - so nobody knows what the true picture is. If we can put a man on thje moon we can surely identify if it was a buy or sell - but again it is their favour.
