I seem to remember him making some off the cuff comment that you could still get packs of 10 or 20 without needing to mortgage your house. I guess everything is relative but at £1 they seem quite affordable to me.
Those on the website are being sold at 10,000 a time for £10,000 so it's quite possible that large orders to the NHS or other could be priced lower. How much lower is debatable though.
The key thing for me is that we know the existing masks only last about 2 hours before they have to be thrown away, but we know our mask continues to kill the virus for up to 7 hours.
On that basis the mask is not really that expensive if it can prevent the use of multiple of the cheaper ones. It's also better for the environment.
