Porsche leads slide in VW deliveries amid ‘intense’ China competition

Deliveries of Porsche cars fell more than 40 per cent during the first nine months of this year from a year earlier, its owner Volkswagen said on Friday.

Overall, VW deliveries to customers slid 7.1 per cent in the third quarter, as Europe’s largest carmaker warned of a “particularly intense” market environment in China.

Last month, VW issued its second profit warning in three months as it cautioned on weaker sales. Marco Schubert, part of VW’s extended executive committee on sales, said: “The competitive situation in China is particularly intense, which is the main reason for the global decline in our deliveries”.

They have sold 2000 cars in 6 months. And they are being recalled. If they could sell 5000 in H2 they wouldn't have issued a profit warning. Someone is starting to sound desperate now.

When someone gets this much wrong, and claim they know the company are doing really well when everyone else says the opposite, I often wonder if they are short, and noising up the board on purpose to get the price down to buy more.

Firmly believe the demand is not there. Ferrari raised guidance this summer, no supply or China problems for them. At the same time AML lowered it.

No company is ever going to say "Our cars are too expensive and the demand is just not there"

Quite the dilemma, do you then lower prices? Second hand prices sink even lower. AML are in this awful position of trying to shift old models at a huge discount now, and they can't. They also can't sell new cars until the old ones are sold.
