Russia won't be seizing BP's assets, not a chance.
Russia does not have any issue with BP and before the decision was made there would have been high level talks between BP, Rosneft, Igor Sechin, etc where BP would have explained that it was having its arm twisted!

This war will end and as much as everyone hates Russia at the moment I suspect things will get back to "normal" over time.
Russia has to many commodities that the world needs, and certainly not just oil & gas.
REE's, Cobalt, Copper, Nickel, Platinium etc etc
BP will sell its 19.75% when the time is right, the good thing is BP is a strong company and is not desperate for the cash.

If the west chooses it won't buy Russian oil and gas it still won't make it worthless.
China is the biggest export market and there's plenty of others that will take it.
Oh, and the west is STILL buying Russian oil & gas, Billions of dollars worth.

I'm with Lti here,
I suspect this will be sold possibly to the Chinese, but we will have to wait and see.
I am bullish on BP, it still has a bright future.

Let's just say if half the shares are bought back and destroyed, and NOTHING else changes the value of the remaining shares should be double that of before!

I have messaged Boris Johnson, and my local MP for their comments and a response as to why BP have been singled out even when this Government continues to purchase Russian Oil & Gas.
I won't hold my breath waiting for a response, but if they do I will advise this board.

Although I would imagine BP will take a hit tomorrow it may not be all bad.
Many of BP's most profitable barrels come from the gulf of Mexico, they want to transition into renewables and although this is forcing them into a position they wouldn't have chosen now, it MAY not be such a bad thing.
If they can "mothball" their holding and sell for a fair price once the dust has settled it could give them the financial strength to pay debt down further and hopefully take a strong position in the manufacture of "green" Hydrogen.
The Russian oil is also known to be "dirty" barrels, not good when you want to push your green status.

China would be my bet, they are Russia's biggest oil customer, they have a much better relationship with them than the west and buying into Rosneft could secure their future supply.
If needed they could even take everything Rosneft produce.
I don't think BP will rush into any sale though.
