Best to get in early and get the rig best suited to the job.

we were notified of the western blocks (WINX) on 29-08-18 so that confirms 6M+ for booking rig.

bad luck or just poor analysis by OEL resulting in wrong hole location, but it's been and gone now.

not sure if much credence should be given, but we do not know for sure :-)

Every few years a rumor that BP is selling its interest in the Prudhoe Bay oil field surfaces and then disappears when no sale is announced. The latest rumor seems to have some credibility. BP is reportedly selling most of its interest in the giant Prudhoe Bay oil field to ConocoPhillips and Hilcorp, with ConocoPhillips to operate the western half and Hilcorp the eastern of the giant field.

Combining information from trustworthy but unnamed sources and from public information, Petroleum News has pieced together the possible story behind the latest rumor - fictional until confirmed by BP, ConocoPhillips and Hilcorp.

As a matter of policy, BP, ConocoPhillips and Hilcorp do not comment on pending transactions.
But the current rumor comes with a public announcement date in “mid-August,” so if that’s true, we don’t have long to wait to find out if this latest rumor is a real deal.

Had an experience as a BUYER with a "no commission" estate agent, in reality the agent was working for us not the SELLER ,he told us what the SELLER's rock bottom was and how he would turn the screw to get a deal, assume desperate for fee and to move onto next property.
Had we bought SELLER effectively substituted commission for lowest price.

Hu11 I am not saying 5p is impossible because it is not, I guess what I am saying is that my interest is longer term and its the quality of the deal (inc. partner) that is paramount as we begin continue our quest to prove up the acreage and unlock those billions of barrels.
No one yet knows what the deal is and even at this stage that it will ultimately happen so getting fixated on either side of the SP debate is not where I am at.

As a long term holder ( and occasional trader on spikes :-) ) I seem to be alone in being more interested in the quality of the partner and the winter drill programme than SP at this time, for me the knowledge that we can make progress (prove) this coming winter on the conventional programme and possibly also pressure core the HRZ to really advance that programme will give most satisfaction.
Yes I expect some SP movement if news is good and diligent releasing of news (Rigs, Permits, Yukon) etc may sustain that but the real SP growth will possibly only be if and when we get some exploration success.
Difficult in any case to predict what may happen to SP, why not BPC type spike?
Everything is possible as long as its not impossible.

perhaps if I was putting in $500M I might want a bit more certainty than exclusivity until 31/08/2019 unless of course the deal is expected to have been done by then.

Bridgedogg1 the permits- bond thingy is probably a damp squib, we can get all the permits sorted (plenty of time) and bond needs to be in place at time final permit to drill is applied for, most like that money is needed elsewhere to ensure equipment is booked, reserved etc.
Ultimately probably the Farminee will be picking up all costs, even if can't be revealed at the moment.

sounds to me as if the FO has a plan, but until deal is revealed who is going to book the rigs, cabins, drilling mud tanks etc. on our leases, AEA of course.
keeps speculation to the minimum.

Bridgedogg1 Icewine#2 is on Franklin Bluffs gravel pad so available 24/7 - 365(6) days a year, rest of leases are subject to winter drilling season ~Feb to May.
Permission may be granted for ice road preparation and even if the tundra is not fully opened (as per foothills this year), DNR can still permit based on ice road and ice pad requirement being met.
