There WILL always be conservation groups suing the Feds, States, oil companies, conservation groups are almost always extremely litigious and will ensure the media are very aware.
If someone believes only federal leases will be targeted they are naïve, once one skittle falls they move onto the next with the advantage of legal precedent, but it serves to put a little spin on it does it not ?
COP state that they still believe they can get Willow by working with BLM rather than appealing.
In any case Democrats may be out in 3 years and if current energy crisis continues who knows!

We have been advised that prepacking (preparation for snow road has commenced) so hopefully all will be ready when we are ready to launch the rig.
"All Tundra Opening Areas are Currently Closed. All monitoring stations have met snow depth criteria (6
inches in the Coastal Areas and 9 inches in Foothills). Thirteen of the twenty monitoring stations have met the
criterion of -5°C for soil temperature at 30cm depth. However, none of the areas have had all monitoring
stations within the area reporting -5°C at 30 cm. Temperatures at 30 cm have continued to fall steadily since
early December. If the trend continues the coastal areas should pass temperature criteria in the coming weeks.
Snow depths were not re-sampled since the last report as the snowpack has remained consistent at all
monitoring stations."
"The target for the two Coastal Areas is 6 inches of snow and soil temperature of -5°C at 30 cm depth. The target
for the two Foothill Areas is 9 inches of snow and soil temperature of -5°C at 30 cm depth.
NOTICE: Due to exceptional snow conditions ADNR DMLW strongly recommends that any operator planning
to construct snow and ice roads begin prepacking operations as soon as possible. This year’s deep snowpack
appears to be insulating the tundra, particularly in the foothill areas. This will likely push back the travel
opening date. Prepacking will help drive temperatures down to acceptable levels. Prepacking requests can be
sent to dmlw.north.slope@alaska.gov for approval. "
