I found this article which talks about how algorithmic trading works.

My own view is that something is going on that is connected to the shorting but I am no expert in this field. All I can anecdotally say is that I don't think we had anywhere near the volume of automated trades before the WQ short in particular. Volume is very low today so far and buys still outweigh sells by over half and million pounds. I know we get off-book trades that don't show up until later but its odd in my opinion.

I still totally believe that this will be a brilliant success in the medium and longer term but it is going to require the resolution of the DHSC issue as a start point. That should get rid of the shorts but I thunk we are a little less attractive for teh traders at the moment. All only a personal opinion of course.

Worldquant reduced yesterday to 0.81% so is the sp being held down to let them get out? So much more bought than sold (£500K at time of writing on LSE) so far today.

My belief is that you are assuming incorrectly :-)

Sorry Troublesome but I don't agree to that interpretation.

This part of the RNS is referring to both tests generally.

"Novacyt's two new PathFlow® COVID-19 antigen tests are small, instrument-free and contain all the components required for safe sample collection, preparation, testing, interpretation of results, and disposal for convenient use by healthcare professionals or patients in home settings. "

It then goes on to describe each test individually.

"PathFlow® COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Pro is a CE Marked LFT for professional use detecting SARS-CoV-2 antigens using either anterior nasal samples or nasopharyngeal samples to provide results in approximately 15 minutes etc.".

"PathFlow® COVID-19 Rapid Antigen is a self-test LFT to detect SARS-CoV-2 antigens using oral fluid samples and provides results in approximately 15 minutes etc.".

In other words, one test is professional use only and the other is a self-test for anyone to use.

That's my take anyway.

The RNS this morning was good news. It just was not quite as good as I'd hoped when I read it carefully (and I wish a few other people would not skim read and come out with rubbish straight away). My interpretation is that there are two tests.

One is the 'pro' version with swabs up your nose. CE marked for use by professionals only in any setting (including someone's home. Available immediately.

The second is the really exciting saliva test, truly for home use by anyone but not yet available, no timescale given and therefore presumably not yet CE marked. Hoping this will be a couple of weeks as some posters have suggested but now sure where they get that timescale from. I felt that there has been an element of getting this RMS out before the end of H1 to keep a promise and therefore the 'news' is simply confirmation of things we have been told before.

Add this to the ongoing uncertainty over the DHSC dispute and you have IMO the reason for the somewhat muted reaction by the SP. At the time of writing this, up 0.48%.

Our day will come with the news of the dispute being sorted and the availability of the saliva test with it's CE mark for home use. It will come on news of other exciting pipeline products and diversification away from COVID. It will not come with some of the crap posted so far today that has frankly been embarrassing.

1. Its a part French company (at the moment) so good luck with that one.
2. It would have to be a UK Government decision, not a department.
3. As far as I am aware in recent history, no company has ever been 'Taken Over' by UK Government unless it was previously nationalised (E.G. The railway infrastructure you referred to), or in the 'National Interest' (E.G the banking sector like in the case of RBS).
4. It would fly completely in the face of the Conservative Party mantra and philosophy for the last hundred years.

So even as a 'tongue in cheek' statement, it's nonsense.
