That was the catalyst for certain!!! No wonder Ronald and I thought he was talking about the derivative "forward" or "forward trading" where you buy today in anticipation of the market settling in you favour at settlement date!

Bit like ordering Xmas trees in January at the January price for delivery in December!

I was looking for Michael Floyd’s words that convinced me credits were imminent!

Of course it was Paul Dolan who said “Carbon credits will fund the project” .

With hindsight he did not mean forward credits as I understood , and maybe Ronald Brown did too?

I think it might have meant that the attraction of earning credits would produce the bodies who’d buy parcels of empty land and hand us management contracts!

Perhaps a percentage of the credits was secondary to what we’d earn in management fees?

And management fees would fund the project until we started getting a brucie bonus from the credits once they are issued several years on.

I thought there was good reason to agree with Ronald and that was it!

On WBI they disappeared within a few minutes.

Having seen the sell price offered at 1.2p and knowing two of the sells were definitely buys (mine) , I reckon they were all buys today! Given the options were at 4.4p when the price was over 5p I cannot imagine who would sell at below 1.5p - not Ukrainians for sure!

Tlou are committed to CBM power after possible diversions into Hydrogen/Carbon or Crypto!
Nither of those two are not ruled out GIVEN TIME, and our plans for 2023 look to be highly feasible. Better prospects than existed back in the 5p days .... plus no definite dilution from options .... all we need is news that we are extending wells on #4 and we should be flying back towards 5p. Improved gas flows and an end to dewatering and carbon credits on the horizon and the Pension fund's 11p price might share that horizon.

Don't think you will have anywhere near that long to wait Curlz.
Once a couple of conglomerates/institutions/whatever come forward with no experience of timber but with a will to tap the carbon credits market for huge returns, you will have another 5 years or more before you start to see the first returns. Depending how much Woodbois can negotiate for managing their resource (percentage of their credits and maybe running costs and a bit of profit).

I that takes 10 years I will be surprised (if I can see what is going on wherever I end up).
There is little doubt Paul is expecting some takers fairly soon. You will then find out the terms which will be a benchmark for future partners (until we need no more of them).

At that point the company will be in a position to buy its own land and take all 100% for themselves. That will be in parallel with running the originals and eventually , you'd hope , producing timber we buy from them or are in the original contract's t&c?

It was an exciting thought to see what sort of deal we can get! It is a shame that I cannot sensibly be part of it as I'd hoped. The poorer the contract the longer it will take - but 20 years is pessimistic as long as the world maintains their carbon neutral stance!

I think Michael Floyd was showing why Woodbois should get involved in carbon credits through management of parcels of land which are barren regarding trees. Paul had done this beforehand but the value of credits was insufficient at that time?

The change of direction referred to by both Michael and Ron was due to the price now being worth the effort!

I assumed , wrongly , that it was a nobrainer and carbon credits must have been on Woodbois's agenda for some time!

Cannot speak for Ron , but coming from that opinion it was easy to believe that the change of direction was the idea of selling anticipated credits (exantes) in the futures markets for an early reward. By the time they needed to be repaid , after new credits are issued, there would be plenty of cash to manage that. As Jay said, they would effectively be loans secured against certified credits to come in the future. The buyers would be offsetting their carbon excesses several years early - everybody was a winner?

Michael's remark that new saplings would be sequestering carbon from the day they were planted seemed to support that idea.

When I sold I had every intention of buying back after an inevitable price drop.
But the wait for land to manage and then the wait for 5 years of growth is simply too longat my age. Long term holding for people with the time makes this a good proposition. If they can find the land (anywhere in the world) at the right price, Woodbois will be able to buy their own parcels instead of managing it for others and then they'll be cooking with gas!

Backing out suggests he is as gutted as I am at the reality and Fool was right for no good reason!

My excursion with Woodbois is over after expected carbon credits there before I die now seem 5+ years away.

If TLOU can go live in 2023 I hope to see that happen whether it be Serowe or our SM partnership. Whichever it is, I would hope carbon credits would be due immediately rather than after yet another infernal wait.

Woodbois had an AGM yesterday and their excellent CEO explained that a million acres of forests in Gabon and Mozambique were effectively timber to Woodbois , and carbon credits for Gabon! Talk of antes and forward trading in credits was not much use to Woodbois shareholders it seems.

Full marks to Woodbois for getting the video online already.
It tallies with my recording times so is unedited and assures me this is a very honest company.
For me that is the primary plus, without it doom looms!

The second factor for me is the timing of a return , and at my age , it is limited no doubt.

I defended the Ronald Brown article in the absence of very much evidence to the contrary!
He spoke about "forward" sales of credits, Michael Floyd and Paul Dolan come from a dericatives background , and I was certain we were going to be able to earn money from our existing forests , especially in Gabon.

Yesterday , Paul answered that question and it was 100% sure that my view of "forwards" was total tripe, as if the Ronald Brown article's assertion there is an incentive to buy Woodbois shares IMMEDIATELY or RISK MISSING OUT!

As I saw it, we were going to start earning income from both the existing 170 hectares in Gabon (they have funds) and the new pacels of land to be acquired by partners for whom we would manage the land in return for a share of the credits!

I was never clear how the forward deals would be refunded as credits arrived based on actual sequestering of carbon but swapping credits for certificates was fine for the future! But the intervening payments, loans in advance if you like , needed to be repaid once the credits were live.

I am gutted that exisiting forests are never going to earn credits en masse.
There will be hectares that we reforest that will qualify perhaps, but my confidence on that has wained too!

I do not see the urgency to buy here. The percentage of credits we might earn in 4 or 5 years times is likely to be long for me to see it happen, and how many % will we be able to claim even then?

Regrettably, with TLOU hoping to produce CBM power in 2023 and immediate qualification for carbon credits and a share price of less than 1.5p is a better option for me (and my heirs).

Apologies to BC100 and others who never believed the impossible, and even more apologies to anyone who understood and believed what I genuinely believed.

in 1969 I was in my first month with IBM, London when I got an unexpected job offer from Marconi research.

IBM were paying me £1150 pa , and the Marconi offer was £1050 pa (in the days when £999 was common and you'd made it if you got 4 figures).

I showed my job offer to my IBM boss , and he said
"I am not going to offer you a pay cut to stay".
Very funny then and now imho. I took the Marconi deal btw.

If I had not got mumps I'd have sung the descant of Noel at Wells Cathedral so I must have been quite good I guess? My mum said I was always singing! I also had a stutter which she trained me to overcome , I wonder if the two were connected? I think there are people whose sing perfectly but cannot speak without a stutter.
