Market value of $1.2 billion dollars with $360 million debt, a significant sum attributed to capex in H2 and what reads like a buy in option that will be paid for in cash. Plenty of other companies that aren’t so heavily indebted like Resolute and Centamin or indeed more attractive producers with lower costs entering a similar period of growth like Pan African.

Net debt of $257.9 million as at 31 December 2023 up from $175.1 million and we know this has continued rising in the first half.

Capital expenditure this year forecast to be $180 million.

Cash on the balance sheet may be deployed for various reasons including paying creditors, covering tax payments and ‘dividend payments’ but regardless HOC will be paying $40-45 million in interest.

A full quarters production at Kouroussa at current run rate is double what they achieved last quarter. Corica on site and mining the higher grades.

Yanfolila with its production weighted H2 forecast to produce close to what they achieved in Q1 (+18,000 ounces).

The $13.5 million losses booked were mostly at Yanfolila and that’s despite Kouroussa only producing around 7,700 ounces, which included expensive third party contractors replacing Corica in the two months they went missing as well as the cost of them returning to site.

Hummingbird are on track to double Q2 Kouroussa production which is already generating significant cashflow.

Kouroussa production in Q1

5,868 ounces: average 1,956 ounces / month or 489 week

Kouroussa production in Q2

7,789 ounces: average 2,596 ounces / month or 649 week

Kouroussa production in Q3

Average 4,800 ounces / month of July or 1,200 per week.

The quarterly run rate at the end of July was 14,400 ounces. This is during a ramp up so it’s only going higher as evidenced by the trend since Corica returned to site in late May.

Of course the Q2 monthly and weekly figures for when Corica were on site and mining uninterrupted were not as low as this. It’s simply the average. Nevertheless the trend is clear and Kouroussa is ramping up.

15,000 ounces this quarter at Kouroussa will be highly profitable with current margins.

As has been pointed out they did more than 18,000 ounces this time last year. Still clinging onto cashflow figures almost 7 weeks out of date now, that $400k working capital would be long gone if the company were still losing money. They clearly aren’t though, Kouroussa sales are generating $1,000/oz gross at current rate and that will rise further with the expected ramp up.

You’re desperately looking for an angle whether Coris or outdated working capital figures or the rain.

Kouroussa was on an average quarterly run rate of more than 15,000 ounces at the end of July.

It is expected to be on an average quarterly run rate of 30,000 ounces by end of December.

In the next 4-5 months the average quarterly production is forecast to double from the already announced July figures.
