Cobus Loots, CEO of Pan African Resources, on delivering sector-leading returns for shareholders. Watch the video here.
Lying awake in my budget boutique hotel room in Dublin (not me choosing) I cannot call it. All comes down to whether the Dame can restore trust in her strategy. Everything else suggests this share should be back at pre-covid levels.
Best case scenario realistically is she claws back some of the losses incurred by her shambolic performance last time around. We could be looking at 80p by end of Friday. Maybe 85p by mid next week.
Alternatively if the city view her as dithering, being too vague and not grounded by the reality of streaming and future broadcasting then we are back to 65p and heading lower again into next week.
So many options everywhere in Dublin to gamble and yet putting my hard earned savings into ITV is the same as roulette.
Jed 80p does now look possible. Good results delivered with no new investment plans could be what the market needs to hear. ITVX bombshell has hopefully done its worst. Lets hope that the Dame has run everything past city analysts this time and is not going to crash the SP yet again.
I am averaging 70.5p here so looking to make a small profit with ITV before getting out ahead of the markets crash in AUG-SEP
Sighs.
I thought maybe with the chief cretin gone (finally did the walk of shame) that maybe some of the hangers on might improve their act.
Janus after being a one trick pony who existed just to doggedly follow me around the board has now changed his/her ways.
Anger ...... Too much to hope for. Lacking in the intelligence to just move on. I have owned him many times over and he is still hurting.
Sorry Anger I am the Alpha male here now. People follow my posts with great interest whether they agree with me or not.
Winstainley the fairweather friend?
It might just be coincidence but I have noticed the share price falls when the rampers are out in numbers here with their over optimistic predictions.
It is like the shorters use this place as a measure of small investor stupidity. When the hysteria levels rise they seize the opportunity to cash in and short against all the less numpties who post "top up" "cheap as chips" "buying opportunities".
Sighs
A few days of rises and low and behold some names from the past feel emboldened and return here after hiding under their rocks for the past few months. Winstanley has not posted here since May!
I am in no way a shorter. I am invested here and want £1 but I am not blind to ITV's many failings. This share will revisit 65p before it eventually recovers to over £1.
Tut tut. I am sure the Voice and another series of the masked singer is lined up for the autumn prime time Saturday night slot. Then Dancing on Ice. Dancing Dogs is only for the lower ratings around Easter followed by reruns of all the old Bond movies.
Nothing is changing there. Not sure if there is any ground breaking news for these results. Just further releases on ITVX and how it will be a world beater and worth every penny just like Britbox was
I am selling 50% of my shares next week. Cannot guess which way this will go after the results. Could go straight back to 65 and then there is further damage to come with global economic correction in August/September. I am betting on this climbing now until Wednesday. Possible major loss of nerve on Thursday after results are published.
70as I post. This has climbed too much now. The next few days might see more increases but at somepoint this has to slump back to mid 60s right? The Dame will wipe 10p of this with another abysmal presentation on Thursday?
50/50. Do I stick or twist in the next week.
Jed is okay. A bit misguided. Just hopes for the best even when storm clouds are on the horizon.
This forum has improved drastically since all the Baloney moved on. Used to be endless brokers ratings and ADR nonsense by a small handful of posters who has their own circle jerk going on in here. They have trashed the other place.
Anti Trust is more a US concept. Monopolies and Mergers in the UK is very different.
The US is very free market and for open competition where cartels and monopolies are viewed almost as evil. UK we are far more used to large quasi state run institutions and monopolies. Socialism and welfare state created these large monsters such as BT, British rail, NHS, Royal Mail and state power companies.
Therefore when it comes to the C4 bid I am reading between the lines. Free market Tories want it back in the private sector. Realistically it has to be kept free at source and a Public service broadcaster. For that to happen there is only really one player.
Now the government could just hand C4 over to ITV, but that would create endlessly whining and shouts of corruption. So a sham bidding process has been set up which will eventually see responsibility for C4 handed over to ITV. Most other bidders for ITV will fail to meet criteria, PSB commitments and political neutrality.
So the price being paid really comes down to how much the CEO can negotiate. An asset that barely breaks even going for 2 billion????? The again the money the government will receive will go straight into the pockets of small production companies who will hopefully turn out content to be sold by either BBC or ITV internationally.
In conclusion I think this is a done deal. The "Dame" is part of the political establishment. She has probably already received a wink and a nod from Nadine Dorries. 2 billion of whatever is finally agreed of shareholders money and leveraged debt will go into the pockets of media industry luvvies who will then be free to **** it up the wall and go and film their favourite cute and cuddly OAP celebrity travelling in exotic locales whilst living it up in 5* beach resorts. Everyone benefits apart from small private investors who are desperate to generate pension income.
Progressive dividend but nobody wants this share....... Weak £ to $ but nobody wants to buyout ITV.
Why is this company so unattractive to buyers and investors? Does something smell bad about the BOD and their acquisitions and handouts of shareholder funds to media luvvies?
https://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/this-morning-forest-festival-boris-johnson-resignation_uk_62c6be3ce4b02e0ac9108283
I am late to this! Some idiot finance director signed off on buying a section of forest so that overpaid morning presenters can throw huge jollies for themselves and their crews in summer in a forest?
What next? Host ITV news from Aruba beach front? Next AGM to be held at Vegas?
Until the share price recovers to the pre covid levels all money should be channelled into strategic acquisitions not pandering to celebrity egos and woke causes.
I wish I could be more Jed. Endlessly optimistic.
War in Ukraine, Cold War II has started, economy about to dive and ITV led by a Board of dimwits. Hey ho just ignore the bad and keep on promoting only good news here people.
Nice turn around today. End of the down trend for the next day or so? Nice rise up to 67-68? Results week I am praying for £1.50 the pre covid price.
TomE was also a big TW owner. Best thing ever said about that was combine TW with first two letters of IT and you have a good summing up on that type of investor.
Solley why don't you tell us more about your daughters job in media in the US and how that makes you the best person to decide what should and should not go up on this forum?
How much have you lost so far in ITV? 6 figure loss?
This website only sadly Jed. Everywhere else is still showing todays high at 67.**
Might make it to 70 today but 74p would need something special to be happening.
The world cup BS comes up here every major tournament. The rampers always claim it will drive share price up........
It brings in revenue but not so much profit. The costs incurred are only just covered by the advertising it brings in. It is not so much good news for us shareholders. More good news for all the ITV production staff and retired footballers who get to go on an all expenses paid jolly and hang out with the corrupt FIFA officials and hangers on.
I do wish people would stop posting the same old tired lies up here.
Jed read the post. They will be back. There is a multitude of voices on here now saying ITV will reach lower depths over the next few months. Some people are looking to buy back in at sub 60p or even sub 50p. Sticking or selling. Either way is a brave call
