According to what I read in the media today (Telegraph?), Trump wants to force Russia to the negotiating table with Ukraine by lowering the price of oil thus crippling the Russian economy.

It would probably work, however worth noting that Trump also wants lower oil prices to kick-start the US economy, so there’s an element of moralising and spin going on here I fancy. Of course I doubt the global oil industry will be too happy with this; nevertheless Trump is trying to convince the Saudis to act.

Sitting duck- chart patterns are often self- fulfilling prophecies. Traders buy and sell into them. I can see what you mean about the H&S - and who knows? But the fundamentals ought to trump this nonesense. IMO

So let me add IMHO

I think you can be over schooled when making investment decisions. Some folk deeply analyse all the data with homemade company spreadsheets etc. Then when the shareprice moves against their forecast they look like fools.

A basic look at fundamental trends, the debt position, global outlook mixed with intuition++ is all you need to make an investment decision. Afterall the market is bought and sold by the masses and the masses are largely dumb and irrational.

Buy well and hold on. Let the market do its irrational thing and it’ll catch up eventually.

Interim and final divi Increased to 13p + 13p ps.

Previous interim was 10.44p if I remember rightly.

Reading the results is like reviewing a new Rolls Royce. Every aspect polished and pristine.

So that’s a 26p divi (13p + 13p) - is that correct?

The Vistra Moss Landing battery in the United States, has a capacity of 1600 MWh and an output of 400 MW. The destruction of the battery will severely deplete the Northern Calefornia grid. I imagine Virstra Moss will be out of action for months and this could increase demand for GSF deployed assets.

Plenty of reason why oil can go up.

1/ Lack of sustainable energy infrastructure despite huge investment.

2/ Mothballing or destruction of older methods of energy production (including nuclear energy facilities).

3/ Disincentivising O&G discovery through regulation and taxation. The impact of green policies will be felt for years. Time lag from discovery to production can be months.

4/ Peak oil.

5/ Sustainable energy is miles away from taking over from O&G. There will be a mixed energy economy for decades, even centuries.

6/ O&G demand is increasing despite all the measures above.

Jesus weeps, it’s a perfect storm - and yet the sustainable message over years has tanked O&G shares that are sitting at price lows throwing off money to investors.

30p, 33p, 33p (+special), 33p, 33p

This period covers Covid, one of the biggest black swan events this century. So there’s no track record of cuts recently; …shows commitment.

1st It’s an irrational market regarding SP

I guess many will be attracted to the dividend, but that divi is a consequence of the ITH higher risk given it’s tied to the UK with its banana green and utterly incompetent Labour government.

Give me a fair divi, growth potential and diversification any day.

HBR is my pick.
