Good things come to those who wait.

It’s a fair point and something I noted previously. About 6 months ago I sensed a significant pivot on future direction; like decisions were made in the boardroom that led to silence at investor events unless the company were prompted with a question.

These also include a US listing and a softer tone on the NS.

Maybe this is due to operating in sync with a potential suitor. Or maybe it just follows a review of the debt position or further due-diligence on the WD estate following TO. Who knows?

Pete Lynch short - Poloroid didn’t have any debt - it’s a good story though.

Isn’t the reason why the SP is challenged because BASF are selling into any strength. Possibly the reason why HBR want to purchase to cancel their shares.

I remembers seeing a YouTube interview with Peter Lynch about Poloroid that he bought for what he thought was a cheap price. The company SP went down and down and he could work out what was wrong. After averaging down several times and the SP continuing to tank he had to make a decision whether to sell. He ended up reasoning that he did know of any profitable company going bust, so decided to hold. He ended up selling at a profit, it just took time.

Would you prefer for this to be a pure NS play?

WD is a big diversification bite and it’ll take a while to digest the associated costs with lower oil prices and a clown in the Whitehouse.

Nevertheless this will leave HBR in a better place for the next growth cycle benefitting patient investors. Meanwhile the huge dividend is likely to be covered meaning you double your money/investment every 6 years with DRIP.

US military has been building significantly around Iran. Three carrier groups I think. I’m thinking one of the reasons Trump wanted UkraineRussia settled is so he can get busy in Iran.

It’s notable that the US has gone from requiring Iran to reduce its uranium enrichment to cancelling their nuclear programme all together.

Essentially they want Iran to kiss the ring of the US clown show. It’s not going to happen IMV, and if the bombs start flying, it could lead to a wider Middle East war and possibly a West/East World War.

Not a mention about this from the British media; so yes, a giant elephant in the room, as mentioned.

I think the recent softness in the price has been more ex dividend orientated; seems the most obvious.

I’m also enjoying the ‘insider trading’ speculation suggesting key members of Trumps team used inside info to buy stocks.

Agree; and remember that Chinese workers making tech components for the US market work under almost ‘military regime’ conditions for a small fraction of the pay.

US workers have ‘fat’ pay check expectations, insist on conducive working conditions and bring the unions in at the drop of a hat. How expensive is that tech component now.

Iran is the elephant in the room regarding oil prices IMO. The US have been building forces in the area for a potential strike which could spark a regional war.

Talks on Iran’s nuclear programme have broken down and Trump is an impatient man.

Thing is, if productivity increases massively, and quickly in the US (which is the whole point of tariffs), where’s the energy coming from?
