Stock futures rise as court blocks Trump’s ‘reciprocal’ tariffs

Stock futures surged after the U.S. Court of International Trade ruled that President Donald Trump overstepped his authority when he issued his “reciprocal” tariffs.

Dow futures were last up more than 400 points, while S&P 500 futures jumped 1.4%. Nasdaq 100 futures added 1.7%.

“The Worldwide and Retaliatory Tariff Orders exceed any authority granted to the President by [the International Emergency Economic Powers Act] to regulate importation by means of tariffs,” the judges wrote in their decision on Wednesday.

The judges said that the challenged tariff orders “will be vacated and their operation permanently enjoined.”

White House spokesperson Kush Desai pushed back on the ruling, noting that trade deficits “have created a national emergency that has decimated American communities.”

“It is not for unelected judges to decide how to properly address a national emergency,” Desai added.

We are now however 14c exchange rate different in exchange rate to our £20++ high. That 14c exchange rate accounts for a minimum of £1.40 drag on our pricing. So like for like we would be £17 now assuming the exchange rate was the same

It's £1,998 for the guaranteed Interior room, i.e. they tell you which cabin you will be in, and that includes the taxes and port fees.

Well.... I'm back.!

A successful non-proper gambling cruise. I kept away from the tables for the last 12 nights.!

However, on our meet-up cruise, I will be playing, as there is now a cruise on the list that currently I have booked for May 2026.

To everyone coming, OJ has suggested a time for the meet up, but at the same time I am conscious of the fact that if the intent is to maximise on the casino stuff, you might want to hit the ground running and meet earlier.

Unsure who is coming, as I've forgotten again.!..... and obviously unsure who you are coming with, whether alone, with partners, or even family.

I mentored a couple this cruise and explained part of the program to them.

It will take me approx. 30 minutes to explain the main aspects, however from experience, I usually then get 101 questions which obviously then adds time.

As OJ already has had the initial brief from me, the question is to the others who are coming whether you want to meet up earlier, or later, or, of course, are not really bothered about the casino aspect and just want to meet anyway, or even, not bother to meet at all.!

Feedback re Independence....

Fish and Chips on the pool deck, available every day, it's free, and they are very nice....

The Buffet (Windjammer) was very nice especially the American night (night one) and the "Over the Pond" night (i.e. British) however every day the food was good in the evening..... apart from me personally, the Indian night, only because I don't eat Indian on a cruise ship (personal choice)..

Giovanni's (Italian Speciality) was good.

Hibatchi in Izumi was excellent

Good crew overall.

Casino will have a Single Zero Roulette table by the time we are on. It didn't on the last cruise, but the Manager is now going to add one, so he's changing it today in time for a weeks time....

If you smoke, the smoking sections are on the pool deck Port Side and deck 4 Port Side (Port Side is the Left side as you face forwards)

Any other question pre cruise please ask, but feedback whether you want to meet earlier, or at sailaway, or not at all welcome.

There were a huge amount of old Americans onboard.!

I didn't meet anyone from the UK, although there were quite a few from the Netherlands.

It may well have been the ship (Eclipse) , or even the crew as the crew is truly what makes the cruise. It just didn't synch with me.

Unfortunately I did play in the casino, as the logic was to get onto their program as well, as they have now just moved to the Royal program, so I got 11,000 points playing single zero roulette, so approx. $440,000 throughput, which has given me a certificate and should be enough for the offers to start, and I ended up $2,000 in the end, so all in all it was a successful cruise, as the logic was all about the casino program.

Now my problem is trying to fit in another cruise on a celebrity ship.!

Got home earlier today from the 11 night British Isles cruise on Celebrity from Amsterdam.

Celebrity is definitely more of an "older persons" type cruise. Lots of venues, lots of relaxing, lots of the type of cunardie type of games, that I can imagine would happen on Cunard.!

Ship was nice, venues were nice, definitely not for me personally though, a little too "posh".

I would however recommend for those who like the P&O/Cunard type of approach, as found P&O when I went on it 15 years ago a bit "posh" as well.

Off on Independence on Monday for 12 nights to the Canary Islands, then home for a week before the carnival Board cruise on 31st May.

Hope everyone is well, We've gone up £1 since I left, so hopefully that will continue.

The rise will be when they open the private island in July/August and hopefully onwards and upwards from there to £25 by the end of the year.

My cruise season starts tomorrow.

In the next 8 months I'm home for 3 of them.

In the next 12 weeks, I'm home for 3 of them.
