When all these travel companies come up with the brilliant ideas of the Loyalty programs they pump them out, and then when people actually take advantage of them and stay "Loyal" they don't like it.

Royal were looking at doing this in 2024 and luckily stopped.

The Slogan "Stay Loyal to Royal" was thrown back in their face by so many people that I think they gave in.

But... Things are changing across all Travel sectors since Covid as all Travel through so much free stuff at people to Travel that it's now coming back and biting them.

That is not bad at all when you include the Wifi/Tips as well as the other things. Well Done.

I don't pay for Wifi. I get 3 x Devices for free, because of my Casino status and my Cruise Status. I recently turned Double Pinnacle, which for normal cruisers would be 1,400 nights (Mine has been by staying in Suites by myself and getting 3 points rather than 1 a night)

I also don't pay for Drink as I get Free drinks in the casino, and 6 Drinks a day anywhere else on the ship.

Ultimately it's down to personal choice. Pre-Pay but then don't feel restricted and don't worry about it vs PAYG and have a big bill at the end of the cruise.

If it works out to 2 or 3 drinks a day, then I would agree. If it works out to 5 or 6 then I would question.

People on Royal usually have to drink 7 or 8 a day to break even, and I see people starting drinking at 9 in the morning because of that, despite them saying that they don't drink a lot at home.!

It all depends on how much you paid, but.....

£50 per day is $65 a day.

Usually a drink is approx. $10, sometimes $14, but $10 ish average. So that's 6.5 drink you need to have per day just to be even.

Now, in fairness, if you are also going to get Soda for the kids off of that as well, that's $4 ish a can. 3 cans is one drink ish....... so now you need 5 drinks a day to break even.

I had this debate with OJ, it ends up being that people drink s**t loads more because they want to get the value from the drink package.

All you need is a couple of days where you get off the ship and do tours, or just don't like drinking a lot on a couple of days and the other days you end up needing to drink 7 drinks a day plus the kids drinks just to break even.

You also then might have the mentality that if you get off you won't get a drink because you've paid for your drinks on the ship, therefore not enjoying the port days as much.

Of course, I don't drink anymore, but when I did back in the days, it was 10 pints a day plus chasers.

If you're an OJ or Delboy who sit there trying to empty the bar of all their drinks before you go to bed, then you'll be fine LOL
