Bigger balance sheets often fetch bigger losses. Be interesting to pick the P/L to bits.
We dont get milk and honey until there are safe future profits . As always growth of geometric progression
is possible.
"Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow, creeps in this petty pace...."(Shakespeare)
It is a pity there isnt a 2 yr mechanism for implementing a radical turnoaround withot the threat of being picked off at the bottom of a u curve. If there was more companioes would have sharp pencils
Classic Tounaround strategy is to slash hard rjig build prosper. WG has clearly suffered from the decarbonisation of western economies but plans to proper big time on the future green economy. It hasnt got there yet but has all the right mood music. In my view anything under £5 share undervalues WG. I have had a few WG in the bottom drawer fro some time but am going to have a lot more.
It's nae proper jockanese. We jocks are completely baffkled by the Doric.
Realitbites. F'oos yer futret? Suerly theresis a wheen o' N missing in yon aberdoian.
Wooops a non event to exploit. ie buying more when sp falls
Happy. Significant risks.? What we do know is that tectonic plates are shifting in european and elsewhere energy supply .
We also know that carbon fuel consumption reduction is a growing agenda and many say urgent agenda. Engineeers will exploit the need fro change. WG understand energy supply better than most and have repositioned their attack channels.
Risks? The risk is failing to capitalise on the huge opportunity ahead. If the big investors cant see that then stupidity is abroad. I am an ex investment banker and have met oodles of really thick types in the city. If they back this cleverly timed silly offer then soon they will be eating their own entrails.
happy. It is prety obvious WG is 80% through a turnaround. You know I know everybody knows the green agenda did reduce the attraction of anything to do with oil/gas exploration and supply. We know too that Shell is about facing and telling us all they are needed so exploration is back on the agenda. SO TOO is the agenda for hydrogen in long distance lorries / trains and a HUGE step up in windfarms in the atlantic. Who knows carbon capture too? Biden's billions into the green agenda will provide rocket fuel to the sector.
Just when the WG Turnaround is 85% there you want to sell up at a discount for a ha'porth of tar. My bet is that a stream of great news could be the next part of the WG story. 2 years £8.00 quite probable. Why then sell at £2.diddlysquat.
I cant think of many shares which are obvuiously undervalued and about to climb rapidly. DYOR and use yoir common sense
Well supernormal growth from here seems likely and you can not say that about many shares. SP performance may have been really poor fro some time but it appeared the whole sector was in decline so not surprising. Right now ensuring more gas fro europe must be high on the agenda and green electricity is going to go into overdrive. If WG cannot shift into rapid growth from here - somebody in management is not very bright. I would be a bit cross if there was no sharebuyback and a goodly dividend at interim reporting. Return of divy would help the sp.
Casapinos. I agree. So WG SP undercooked ......Green Div about to be turbocharged as the US and Europe add rocketfuel to Green agenda. .... oild exploration back on agenda/more fashionable as the west/ europe needs gas.
WG rightly shunting sales proceeds at Green div expansion pdq. A casual guess is that rapidly rising profits are in prospect. Divies will come back - no harm in that. They'll be marchin doon Fyvie O'.
If it becomes clear offer failed.......WG .not a bad home for spare cash for a couple of years.?
You dont have to be an expert to interpret the drivers in the green agenda ( Putin has ensured it is turbocharged) WG is spinning on a sixpence. 18 months ago oil/gas exploration projects and even maintenace was becoming unfashionable for investment. We now know Europe has not got enough gas /oil and needs it. Gas and Oil exploration back on the agenda. The spanish ( who now seem to own scottish wind in the atlantic) plan to dwarf the amount of extant windfarms with Supernormal giant windfarms anchored to the atlantic floor over the next 7 years. There will be others. We all know the oil/gas west of Shetland is in the mega category and we can all guess that its needed soon.
Imagine headhunting all the WG engineering project design expertss to aply to the opportunities. Well me small brain I can only imagine some of it. Less than a fiver Phaw. The market will work out the bucks WG could make.
Opportunity cost ??
Actualy if it is taken out at the current offer than it would be shareholders failing to see that the proper SP is close to £5.
I would call it winning. I would call it stupid.
Apolo would have to be really stupid not to have another £1.50 up the jumper. We are where we are and my prediction is that this drags on WG fight them off at a revised offer of £2.60 and that AN Other takes WG out at £4 which is 20-25% short of proper MC valn.
'Foo's yer futret the morn? As I say £5/ share is about right. It is sad and astonishing that there are no proper LBPartnerships in the UK. High leverage and sometimes breakups have their place. In the 80's I approached Darling and told him the UK would lose its taxable corporations if he didnt do a Thatcher and open the doors / copy the US KKR's of this world.. Sure Apolo is going to make huge bucks if it kills WG. The management would have to be really stupid not to make thee case that the WG sp is absurd and the offer undervalues WG by 80-90%. Draling didnt do it. He was a lawyer and they dont do numbers.
I will vote against any bid . I really do believe the new green div is going to turbo charge the near future. The BOD has been courageous in its major strategic change plan. I think it is stupid to sell up at the point when turbocharged future looms.
I will vote against any bid .
LWHL. You are not all wromg, but neither am I. There is a lot that is good in WG as it is and I just happen to believe that the
sales , degearing and strategic changes will ear a lot of fruit if given the chance.
Our company leaders have clearly attended forecasting vague school..
At 237p .if it is taken over at that price it would feel like eating your own entrails. When every UK Company has been taken over and your grandchildren have no jobs.........dont worry they may still be allowed into Canada. WG is worth a fiver a share and anyone with a brain should be able to see that.
Takeover rules say last week of march sometime.
As to short term gainers. WG is a Gem and about to profit greatly from its new green energy division.
You wouldnt believe how big are the planned windfarms to be parked in the atlantic. I assume low hanging fruit fro WG.
So bigger future profits / degeared post division sale / hasnt paid a divy through Covid and it should sure as heck start to resume divy payments v soon. Could even be a special divy post division sale.
I dont like the fact that sausages in Morrisons have gone up by 55%. No good would accrue from Apolo takeover - just destroyed value and a few handing keys back to Build soc in Aberdeen.
The current SP is daft and it will go up son anyway------ to more than the Apolo offer. Why would you welcome an offer.
