RE: De Nora to start listing process23 Feb 2022 09:52
Does anyone ever wonder what De Nora got out of their collaboration with AFC? I highly doubt any development work they did on our electrodes was for 'free'. Did they get to use our alkaline technology in the products they provide to market (allowing AFC to focus on fuel cells for off grid power, ev charging etc), whilst they get to use some of the proprietary tech for electrolysis.
This is completely speculative, but I don't imagine they would have worked with AFC for a few years for charity. The reason I put this out there is that some of the language they use around alkaline, most effieienct etc, sounds like a number of AFC's key usp's in the fuel cell field. Is it that they have effectively taken the IP for electrolysis? Again, could be completely wrong / speculating, but I find it odd that De Nora would have done anything just to help us along, and there was never any mention of a commercial agreement between us.
I know there was the promise of them being our preferred manufacturing partner for electrodes, but why would such a large company trust that AFC was going to make it worth it's while? My hunch is that there were components to the agreement that we are unaware of. I think it's a fair question to ask AB what De Nora got out of the relationship, and whether we gave them any exclusivity on the use of our tech? IMO - Sensible responses only please.
