Maybe they just wanted to put the company in a more precarious position financially, glad I’m away from it all now but these guys are borderline lunatics in charge of the ship.

Ever since I’ve moved, lost interest in what happens with it now, accepted I’m going to lose a fortune out of it. Just feel horrible for the people still working there under them conditions and being told to carry on as normal. I don’t know what planet Ken and Roy live on, but it’s not this one for sure.

They’ve honoured some pretty hefty pay rises this year pal. Before I left, I got 7% backdated to the start of the year and I believe from the projects side of the business that was cascaded down to the entire projects teams or anyone involved with that side of the business.

Do you think a company in such distress would allow that to happen knowing the state of the companies finances? Something doesn’t add up at all here. That is millions in payrises given when you tally it up and average it across the projects teams top to bottom. Maybe the case some clients agreed to it and could back charge it but it was across the entire wood projects team so doesn’t stack up.

It’s really bad when you lose confidence in the staff etc. When I was there, the board rarely turned up and let the executive leadership team face the wrath of disgruntled employees, god know what it’s like now but it sounds like it’s almost pitchforks time.

Hopefully it’s not too late for the company, we shall see what ensues from here.

Some people are not even bothering coming into work now as a result of this mess. The culture and atmosphere at HQ is now right into the ground I’m being told, it’s way past toxic now.

The business has not collapsed whatsoever. I’ve heard that BP pulled the plug on some extensions for some major projects in Aberdeen solely based on poor perception of management and overall leadership of the company. Make of that what you will!!!

The contracts wins are still pouring in, but would hasten to say a large majority of the real money making contracts have been placed on hold due to uncertainty around the company and what this buyout will mean. Not hard to understand with all the media and news speculation that operators don’t want to commence major projects with a currently embattled company! The ramifications of contracts on hold might not be great for forecasts etc, but it’s a mess and the management and board are ratcheting up the rhetoric internally to staff and management to make it sound like it’s on its knees with a begging bowl.

Disgraceful scenes and hopefully something can be done about it.

Not that it means a whole lot to people as it’ll be the II’s that’ll determine which way this ship is going to sail but staff internally are now reporting numerous emails are being sent out from the chancer brigade at the top literally saying this is your only opportunity to walk out with some money or none at all.

No remorse, no nothing. Sounds like it’s actually descending into complete chaos now with staff, management and board relations at HQ to put it mildly.

I wouldn’t honestly take any recommendations from a guy being investigated for fraudulent practices somewhat. Actually, he’d be the absolute last person I’d take any recommendations from on what people should or shouldn’t be doing. He’s part of the process to why we’re at where we are currently. He’s revelling in this moment.

Bit of a short sighted outlook there. An entire branch of Woods new O&G contracts they’ve won for over the next 5-10 years through extensions and new awards have now been parked and put on indefinite hold until the future of the company is sorted and what that means for relationships with existing O&G majors. Wouldn’t like to put a figure on it, but when you look at the numbers that are being banded about, it’s well into the billions being put into no man’s land.

Are you going to just suggest that it’s fine, wood will make them up in the Middle East as well? Its probably their biggest division and if the majors in the UK are unsure about the acquisition, doesn’t bode well for the companies UK operations for the short term and immediate future.

It’s the folks up at Sir Ian Wood House I feel incredibly sorry for. Have heard countless times prior to leaving the company that the atmosphere of the place in general is through the floor. Last few weeks has seen a barrage of resignations, folk have simply had enough and who can blame them?

I’ve been quite fortunate always being put into operators buildings to work in house, so not had much dealings with HQ as such. But I’ve just started a new job last couple of days and it’s like a fresh start in life away from it all.

I’m going to take a considerable loss through this all when it’s all said and done, but I’d like to think that there will be some corporate responsibility uncovered cause restating accounts fraudulently surely can’t just be seen as something that can be swept under the carpet, so will see what the investigation uncovers. Hold in there mate.

I’m temper expectation with these contract wins, extensions etc now. Just bear in mind that a lot of operators have now delayed start dates for contracts with Wood due to the uncertainty going on around the company at the minute.

I think anyone that works in business or oil and gas specifically would have good working knowledge that an operator can pull a contract out from under someone’s feet in the blink of an eye if there’s something they don’t like or are fearful of. Seen it firsthand when I was in house at BP. Contract wins are great, but until they’re actually in motion and making money, they ain’t worth much other than good optics.

Win some lose some mate. Like I’ve said before the only part of it that annoys me is every year they send out the “invest in the future” email to get you to invest in the company. Bit negligent doing that with the way the companies finances have been going. But I knew the risks attached so it is what it is.

I don’t know to what degree, but Roy is being investigated within the company at present. He’s a very shifty character so what would make me feel slightly better is if the slimey bastard got his fingers caught in the cookie jar.

Glad I’m away from it all now. Looking forward to starting my new role tomorrow at pastures new.

Chair at AMEC bud I believe. It’s his best mate that’s chair at Sidara currently doesn’t get mentioned enough. They were both at AMEC together and drink together.

No wonder certain people are foaming out the mouth being minded to recommend.

He’s never made any secret about how much he didn’t like Wood taking over AMEC and was only appeased with a seat on the board to keep his mouth shut. He’s got a very checkered past in business and I’ve no doubt he wants to see Wood sold. Probably also wants to help his best mate who’s at Sidara driving the sale at their side.

An odious character only slightly more disliked than Ken at HQ.

I’m losing £52k accumulated on the SharePlan over the span of my career at Wood. But will hopefully get about £26-27k back as got in at 18p with some free cash I had available so probably losing about £26k if it sells at 30p and anything more will be a bit of a bonus.

This is where Robin Watson should be dragged across the coals. He was informed about the LSTK projects that were haemorrhaging money whilst the acquisition process was going on, but due to his own selfish desire to broaden woods portfolio of clients and to retain contracts Wood were away to lose to AMEC, he just did what he thought was right and swallowed up AMEC.
