The problem with changing Gov, even when the incumbents are useless, is that the public and economy are exposed to a new set of ideological excesses.

Previously untouched sectors and demographics come under threat, creating a whole new set of problems.

The incoming Gov are playing with an already damaged economy, reeling from Brexit, which cannot take another set of policies driven by ideology, with disregard for their real world impact.

Unfortunately, this is precisely what they appear to be getting.
