Love cornwall.. Spent 3 months there as an unemployed teenager with my mates in the days when you could just turn up anywhere in the country, sign on and get free money. Camping on my mates uncles farm in Relubus near Penzance. Mate had a 2 litre ford capri (thought he was Terry Mcann) so we got around most of the the county...when we could afford to put petrol in it.

In those days some of the shops in the villages still had honesty boxes in case you wanted to buy something and no one was around to serve and when you went into some of the pubs it would suddenly go quiet and everyone would stare at you for a bit before going back to their chat.
Nice people when you get to know them though.

Re the food. The staple here is fish and rice and the fish is usually so fresh its often still moving. Lechon baboy is good but I prefer the lechon manok. I enjoy eating the fruits...many that we grow on our farm. Buko, pomelo, Jackfruit, (my favourite) mango, papaya, banana, guava and more. So we have a healthy diet but still dream of those fish and chips and a full english.

Im West Yorkshire born and bred...not far from leeds. If you like a big less crowded beach then Filey is best. If you like a more lively typical seaside town then youll prefer Scarborough with its old castle and grand hotel, but Whitby is my favourite east coast town, with the historic abbey and nearby church and graveyard looking down on the old town and still with an old traditional fishing village feel to it in places. Memories of breaking open the rocks at the base of the cliffs looking for ammonites as a kid and gorging on fish and chips.

If your into the vampire, dracula thing, youll know Bram Stokers stay in Whitby was said to be the inspiration for his Dracula novel.
They have a goth festival twice a year. I just checked, the next one is 12 to 14th April. Great for taking the kids to marvel and gawk at all the strange people walking around dressed in black with heavy make up and red or green hair....bit like a night out in Leeds really.

You sound like a well travelled man westie. I still have lots of countries on my wishlist but my favourite country ive visited is Italy. Rome for the incredible history (and gelatos to die for on the Via Del Fiori) plus Bay of Naples, (best Sfoglietelle's youll ever eat) Sorrento and Capri for amazing coastlines.

Yala how very dare you! I grew up in a poor family and beans on toast and bread and butter pudding and the occasional good old fry up were the mainstay of our diet. Nowt wrong wi baked beans and if youve never tried fish an chips in the Magpie restaurant in Whitby you havent lived.

Tried lots of different foods in different countries. Philippines isnt the best for food if im honest, though if your ever here id reccomend you try the balut. Being a 'Yorkshire foodie' (were not food snobs) the two things I miss most are the aforementioned english breakfast and fish n chips.

If your ever in Manila again you could try to visit Tagaytay and the Taal volcano. Its quite an experience riding up on the little horses to the top of the volcano and spectacular views from the top looking down into the crater.

Not a big drinker these days (unlike in my younger days) so its not something I miss fulmar. More into nature and travelling now. Not a fan of Manila and havent been to Baguio but its on my wish list. Being a foodie the things I miss most about England are food related like fish and chips and proper baked beans for an english breakfast. Things taste different here so take a while to get used to.

If you ever get the chance to come over here then you should try to visit El nido and do the island hopping.
Cebu has some nice places too china. I guess the chinese are like the Filipinos in that they are in every corner of the world. I plan to visit Hong Kong soon. Dont know if you have relatives there. Also Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam are on the doorstep so plenty to see in this part if the world.

Ahh dreams.... Wouldnt it be nice to spend a great day on a powdery white sand beach..blue skies..beatiful brown skinned women with the most amazing smiles, warm clear coral sea.

Oh wait...i'm off to the beach today. Well you have to take advantage when in the Philippines :)

Maybe see some of you guys here when our investment pays off big time. No pubs but it has its compensations.

All the forthcoming news is already common knowledge lowrisktrader so it doesnt mean we wont get plenty news, with the CSD plant probably first and the further drilling at Kalaba, MRE, and further down the line...initial soil samples at Chey West then initial drill results and not forgetting the little matter of the sale of Casa and sturec.

I would say as a caution though, not to expect too much profit from the CSD as yet. Had a listen to what NvS said in the 2018 icc when asked about revenues there he didnt sound very bullish..in fact he sounded quite cautious. Just saying for those who might be expecting too much and then complaining later.

Doesnt mean it wont be a nice little earner, im just saying we shouldnt get carried away expecting too much.

No need to worry... Everything will happen at the exact time its supposed to happen. Re the MRE on Kalaba. Remember they are doing some extra drilling first and the samples will have to be sent out for testing, which does take a while.
I know it would be nice to get more updates and details on everything but thats not how it goes. The waiting can get frustrating but we just have to be patient and trust them to do their jobs.

Well im no expert. Maybe the cyclone Idai was an exception. It came well inland. Not sure how the cyclones compare to the typhoons here. The big typhoons can reach 1,000 miles in width and from my own experience (of big tropical storms..not experienced a full blown typhoon yet luckily) most of the rain seems to be ahead of them as they come in then the rain eases as they pass over and increases again as it passes. The problem is that some of them move very slowly and dump massive amounts of rain, but yea, theyre turbo charged by the ocean. Africa is a big continent and they tend to fizzle out eventually when they hit land.

Anyway, I did my best to give NvS a weather excuse for the delays but seems nobodies having it :)

Its what they were saying in a weather forecast after some extended news about the cyclone idai. They seem to concentrate a lot on Africa and the Middle East on the cnn news we get with our tv package here. Mozambique and Zimbabwe were most badly affected with heavy flooding and loss of life, but rains stretch far ahead of tropical storms so could and probably will affect us to some extent. They showed a sattelite picture of several tropical storms in the Indian ocean, that seemed to be lining up for Africa, stretching all the way back to Australia.
Of course they could have been dramatising a bit when saying the rainy season might stretch into March or even April. Nobody can forcast that far ahead im sure but the weather really could go tits up if its an El Nino year as some are predicting.
Not good for us here in the Philippines either, as we get hit by more tropical storms and typhoons than anywhere else in the world.

Hope so tomrya..everything does seem to be steadily falling in to place.
Was watching news about the recent devestating cyclone and a weather report that shows a lot of activity to the east of Africa with cyclones lining up to hit the mainland... Who mentioned drizzle :) Its predicted that wet season could stretch into April or May, so we should expect some delays.

Scamcap id say were still building strong foundations with maybe the first few courses of bricks for our very big house in the country.
