Agreed … the crew don't want to be stuck on FPSO in a hurricane but that's the idea of having a detachable buoy system.

Where did you get the crazy idea that Aoka Mizu will be replaced by an Oil Platform next winter?

I don't understand why so many people got so upset when the Aoka Mizu disconnected from the buoy and dashed for cover.
After all, isn't that the whole idea of having a detachable buoy in the first place … so as to head for port in a bad storm?
Forecast of 75 m.p.h. wind and 13m waves seems to me to fit the definition of a bad storm.

DiveCentre Interesting cutaway but I think that the swivel connectors are at the top of the turret … not just above the moonpool .. as quoted in the link I gave.

I had been doing a lot of research myself and came to the same conclusions but there was one thing that puzzled me … how was the 360 degree rotation achieved.

The answer is in that link to the BW website that you mentioned.
It explains how the buoy is fixed to the central rotating part of the turret ( this is done by-the-way automatically using hydraulic clamps) and the vertical load is taken by a 3-race roller main bearing at the top and a sliding bearing at the bottom takes the horizontal load. .

I'm not trying to put a damper on things, especially as I'm deep in the red having bought HUR shares in the 60s just before the fiasco when it dropped into the 30s.

But I don't remember (my memory is starting to fade with 'oldtimers') a big jump in the SP of any of my shares when the following first came on line :-

I hope I'm wrong because we've all been waiting a long time for this but it could be a couple of months after FOIL before it really takes off.

Having done a bit more research, I hope you don't mind me saying that I think you are wrong on a couple of things.
1) I don't think there are the flexible connections you were talking about
2) I think the AM will be able to weathervane more than 290 degrees if needed.

This is my theory of how it works:-
Once the buoy has been lifted into place, it will be fixed to the centre core of the turret and any required connections will be done automatically.
The centre core can rotate inside the outer part of the turret.
Transfer of oil will be from the buoy and up through the centre core of the turret. Flow to the outside of the turret will be through high pressure fluid swivels and so there will be no need for flexible connectors and the AM should be able to rotate completely around the centre core.
Therefore I am still puzzled as to which connections have to be made once the buoy has been lifted into place.

This conversation started when ADVEN Steve said that it would take up to a week to make all the connections to the buoy after it had been hoisted into place.
I've been doing some more research and I think maybe you're right about the flexible connections being in the turret.
If so then surely all that would have been done in Rotterdam!
But I'm also right in as much as there are no manual connections between the buoy and FPSO (via turret).

It really is a puzzle how fluids get between the buoy and the FPSO.
It can't be by pipes/tubes/hoses because there'd be one mighty great knot once the FPSO had rotated like a weather-vane a few times.
It would seem to me that the interface between the buoy and the FPSO is like a huge bearing … with the outside fixed to the FPSO and the buoy locked into the inside.

This might sound a bit preposterous but I'm wondering if the connections to the buoy are made automatically as it is drawn into the FPSO.
This would make it a lot easier to disconnect in case of a storm brewing.
The main concern, when lifting the buoy into place, is to be careful not to damage the seals.

PMO is 30% hedged at $70 next year!

What does that mean ?

a) First 30% of 2019 production sells for £70 pb
b) First 30% of daily production
c) Sales of oil throughout the year, totalling 30% of overall production.

Option "a)" would be the best if oil price recovers later in the year.

I too found it interesting that Spark used the name Bader for their field next to Hurricane.
Bader started out flying Hurricanes but moved to Spitfires shortly after the Battle of Britain.
Bader left the RAF permanently in February 1946 and resumed his career in the oil industry

If you overlay the RKH sp chart onto PMO chart for the last 12 months, you will find that they are almost identical.
Except for major events (such as ZAMA) the PMO sp seems to follow the PoO very closely.
Thus one can say that RKH sp DOES (indirectly) correlate with PoO !
