Not sure I agree with your 75p limit, we've got to this position on the basis of really very limited news (BP award, other contract awards, potentially some Trump impact - but probably not much). 75p is only 10% up from where we ae right now. I'd be hoping for £1+ by the time we get an announcement, and I'm factoring into that an amount of not-so-good news from the review. Fingers crossed!

I'm in a senior position at a large engineering consultancy, similar size to WG. We are profitable 14% EBITA, and I'm therefore convinced that with some better leadership WG would be similar. The Glassdoor reviews of Wood paint a picture to me of a place where people can coast, there is lack of commercial control, lots of focus on sales and not so much on commercially led delivery. Just my opinion from my perceptions only. There is someone who posts on another site who seems to have some inside knowledge and new business continues to roll in. Potential customers would have been spooked by the drop, so given that the likes of BP continue with awards gives me some confidence that the business is sound, just not operating at full potential

Was hoping for a pre Xmas update, but that now seems unlikely in my view. No doubt we'll have to wait until early-mid Jan for a dual update on 24 performance and the audit too... Meanwhile let's hope that gradual lift keeps apace

Given that this stock is not new to being short-sold, is a 5% hold on shorts that massive a concern? We all know that this is a higher risk stock to be in right now, but with higher risk comes potential higher reward. For the last 3 years its been around 1%ish to 3%ish. So shouldn't we actually be surprised that the level of shorting is not far higher than 5%?

Absolutely agree with this, and we are nearly 5 weeks in from the announcement, I actually think they would have been a few days in at that point to mobilising the team to get the review done. They will want to get all of this out and dealt with in 2024 results and move onwards and upwards with growth of the business and leaning their approach to delivery.

I can't see anybody bidding right now. My theory is that a bidder's own investors wouldn't reccomend a bid before the report is out. They would be in 1 of 2 situations, either Option1 - bidding low, much lower than the most recent bids, and resulting in spending money on a bid that goes nowhere or increases dramatically and looks like a ridiculous situation or Option 2 - bidding high, at or above the last bid and placing too much risk in buying something which is worth much less than the offer level. Don't get me wrong - I'd be delighted if a bidding war suddenly erupted! :-)

I work for a business not dissimilar but much more profitable than Wood. My thoughts from the review are:

The write-offs weren't big enough, they should have been 20% higher

Cashflow not impacted

Governance identified as weak in the projects part of the business and significant opportunities for improvement identified.

Change of management structure to follow

Share price fall and recovery in 2 weeks thereafter

Takeover approach within 2 months

The announcement of the review was made. That feels like an appropriate amount of time to have undertaken the vast majority of the review. I think its reasonable for us to expect an update within the next few days. Even if it was a preliminary / interim statement on progress and next steps
