Evs88 - it's hard to believe someone who is currently "sitting with around 15% profit" in less than a year is so disappointed!

What would you consider acceptable or average? 30% or 50% or more in a year? Is that what you get on all your other fantastic investments?

I mean just take your profit and invest it elsewhere if you are so disenfranchised...

ITV have 90,000+ hours of video content and growing all the time.

Every reason to assume that the new ZOO55 channel will get millions of subscribers...

Advertisers will like that, as the key 16-34 age group use YouTube more than a traditional TV, studies show.

It's the right thing to do strategically, a useful new income stream, and I can't wait for all the ad revenue to roll up into my dividends :)

Wow I really like this - YouTube has most of the eyeballs in the key young viewer market - and ITV are smart to try and tap into this. Also the thing about naming it with key YouTube and ITV heritage suggests they are really serious about this.

So the Channel 4 results are knocking the sector this week... google it!

But just because Channel 4 (a not-for-profit hence incomparable to ITV) is losing ad revenue this does not mean ITV Group (which includes a healthy Studio division, and has a different content offering for advertisers) should be marked down.

To me this is a classic throwing out the baby with the bathwater, hence have topped up around 77!

The enhanced ITV / ITV Studios brand visibility that comes from all these global

content sales is a significant factor when it comes to other media corporations paying attention to what ITV is doing and is capable of.

Ultimately as ITV continues executing their strategy for ITV Studios to keep growing globally it becomes a more and more attractive asset… An asset that is NOT for sale (unless you buy the whole ITV Group!)

New buyback RNS - 2nd cancel of shares in a row confirmed!

Important!!!

Whilst updating my buyback statistics today with the latest 16/09 RNS - i was puzzled that the 13/09 RNS said this:

"Following the above transaction, the Company holds 120,479,277 of its ordinary shares in treasury and has 3,931,929,917 ordinary shares in issue (excluding treasury shares)."

And the 16/09 RNS said this:

"Following the above transaction, the Company holds 120,479,277 of its ordinary shares in treasury and has 3,931,608,894 ordinary shares in issue (excluding treasury shares)."

So the 'ordinary shares in issue' went down as usual (by the total of daily purchases which was 321,023 - but the amount held in Treasury did NOT.

I thought this was simply a mistake in the RNS until I read it carefully and there is an important change that I don't think anyone has noticed yet!

13/09 RNS:

"ITV intends to hold the purchased shares in treasury."

16/09 RNS:

"ITV intends to cancel the purchased shares."

Yes that's right - yesterday the buyback shares were cancelled, not held in Treasury. This may be a one off on 16/09 - but if it is actually a change in direction now we have 120m already in Treasury - it could potentially mean the remaining £136m will be used to CANCEL shares.

We should know with the next RNS whether this is the new approach.

People can bash ITV and traditional broadcast TVs prospects all they like - but there’s absolutely no denying that ITVs long term strategy of hoovering up production companies worldwide and merging them all under the ITV Studios umbrella has been hugely successful.

They wouldn’t have a presence and relevance in so many countries without it.

Truly the jewel in the crown of ITV plc.
