Cashing out one of the highest dividend paying FTSE companies to 'invest in a higher dividend paying share' is quite the strategy.

I mean in the FTSE-250 you've got a handful of much riskier investments, or in the FTSE-100 you've basically got Vodafone and the tobacco majors like Imperial and BAT.

Curious where have you found a higher dividend at similar or lower risk?

Everybody knows free to air isn't a desirable asset anymore, there's no need to restate that, even my cat knows.

The valuable assets you take a stake in by investing in ITV are ITVX, ITV Studios and PlanetV (https://www.planet-v.co.uk/)

ITVX is excellent. Streams are huge and growing. It's a valuable asset.

ITV Studios is excellent. Constantly valued at around £3bn my many market commentators (the whole market cap of ITV.L)

PlanetV is excellent. Totally owned by ITV. How long before they franchise this media technology platform out to other media companies...? Feels like hidden value lurking here akin to the surprise funds from selling the Britbox asset.

So when you buy a share in ITV today for 80p, you're buying a stake in these amazing assets. That's what I'm doing, and as a longterm shareholder I don't really care much about free to air either - we have something in common at last! :)

Sounds like the judges haven’t been told ITV is about to cease trading (as per LSE chat)…

Seriously - the reason I rarely post here these days is the ridiculous negativity.

A debate is fine, with differing views, but Tom - just chucking out things like 'companies are going to wipe out' is bizarre. ITV won't be 'wiped out' - it's assets will have value for a long time to come. Eg do you really think ITV Studios is just going to close down and all the programs they make will be replaced by what French TV? US junk? No.

And you're not even a holder? Not even a short? Don't have anything better to do like gardening or reading a book? You just like to login to the ITV shareholder board everyday to spread alarm - why? Seriously why? Odd behaviour.

And omalley - coming up fast on Tom's heels - 'last breath before going down' - are you guys the same poster? What a silly comment. The shareprice is 80.73 as i type and you said a couple of days ago 'doesn't like 80p'. Dunno if you have a position, assume short if so - so ok you're entitled to give reasons why you think it's a sell - but try to make them substantial? Can you quantify why ITV is on it's last breath for example?

Anyway I'm sodding off back to ADVFN. Almost as bad from some oddballs, but not quite so negative (and no constant emails about the CEO and how much some people don't like her. Yawn city).

Well it’s pretty simple - yea record levels but by themselves not enough to move the market. It’s about £2m a day for 4 days so only worth £8m in total.

It’s great to see an increase in the buyback velocity but it’s not the only thing driving the market price.

The 25-Jul buyback of 2,634,342 shares has just been eclipsed today! It's almost as if those operating Buyback are seizing the fall after interim results to ramp up the purchase sizes...
