Why should job cuts equate to a divi cut?.BP. (and the rest) does not exist to provide employment.It exists to make money for the shareholders only .Companies that do not consistently make a profit fold and then there are no jobs at all.

Teddy, each to their own,I have read several articles the ones portfolio should be about 30 different stocks at least.There are not that amount of stocks that I would buy into.If it was easy money everybody would be doing it.

mystic.why is it madness?.BP was just over £3 last Monday.What goes up quick can come down quick and it has.Logic never applies to the oil market.You will never beat
it by using logic.If you got in at this level I suggest you sit on you hands and wait in the time honoured fashion for your rewards.

pappalazz,every time I try to trade my way out of trouble it ends up that sitting on my hands would have been the better option.Buying and selling works for a wee while then suddenly you find you are on the wrong side of a trade, it takes off and you have missed the bus I am way way too heavy in oils but when I look around they still seem the better option at the moment I have done a bit of in/out recently with BP. made a few bob and now they have taken off. I have a pile left and they will be left where they are.I will sit it out from here (well maybe.)

pappalazz,you lost £15k ie approx £6 a share which equates to roughly 2500 shares.The annual divi per annum in this 6 years was about £1.40 per share which equals 2500x1.4 x 6 =£21k in divis.Not a total disaster.

mystic1076,the exchange rate moves around as well and cause a difference.

Mystic, where to look for these markets? Every body is full of enthusiasm but remember this time last week BP was just over £3. This could go to £4 in a week or back to £3

I check the Brent on 3 sites and 01 00 is usually the time they come alive.As for the Opec+ meeting, do not take for granted that there will be a spike up on Monday,the market can be very irrational.
