BP have written down some assets ie oil/gas in the ground.All oil majors are in the same boat.This is a cashless loss.The world has not ended here.

Well Teddy,that is your 5% gone already without even any divi cut mentioned. BP.has dropped 20% from the high last week..Did anybody forecast this a week ago?.We are all sheeple,we are all guessing.That is why the Divi is high,cos the risk is very high.

lol a wee mistake there, I was not moved every time they shut a pit.I was referring to the miners being industrial gypsies at the time. I was shut down twice in Maggie's reign.The last colliery I was at as an underground electrical engineer was Monktonhall at Dalkieth Edinburgh.Esso were recruiting and I managed to procure employment .Esso/Exxon were no slouches at dumping employees either when it suited them (Oil is very cyclical ) Lucky for me I managed to dodge the bullets.

A company exists to make money for the owners/lenders. Dividends and rising share price march together.I am a shareholder here to get the divi and if I am lucky, a rising share price, I am certainly not here out of charity. I worked for Exxon for 28 years, I know how the game works.
